I ordered Mongolian beef and got Mongolian onions. I know you have to cut cost but darn can more beef be added to the dish.

Mediocre at best. Beef and broccoli tasted like fish, the rice was bland with little veggies. Ragoons were barely filled with cream cheese mixture. Steamed pot stickers had no flavor. I gave them a 2 star review because the pot sticker sauce was hands down the best I’ve ever had. But I most likely won’t order again.

We enjoyed our take out. Lo mein, veggie egg rolls, etc. Sichuan bean curd was soft, tasty.

First time trying this place Ordered shrimp with lobster sauce it was not good. Seemed like they took soup and added a few shrimp the sauce was very thin and full of onions only few pieces or carrots and peas. Sauce had no flavor. Very few shrimp

After reading reviews of Chinese restaurants in the area, my wife and I decided have dinner here. There were no other customers when we walked in the door; (not a good sign). But we were pleasantly surprised by the good food. The portions were large. Our only negative was the beef was a little chewy, hence the 4-star rating. Our waiter was cheerful and friendly. We throughly enjoyed our dining experience here.

Definitely not the same place or ownership from my last visit. My Hunan shrimp was overly salty. Portions were generous. The decor hasn’t been kept up. The servers were feeding their kids behind the counter. The back room on the way to the restrooms looked like storage space as if people lived there. For the price, the food is OK. No attention to details or customer view inside and out.

Good quality clean Chinese-American food, right amount of salt and spice. A great deal more like Chinese restaurants on the East Coast. Huge improvement from previous owners, hospitality is improved and they are lightning fast for takeout, would recommend for quick lunch or dinner.

Average at best in my opinion. In the two times we’ve gone to China House, we were disappointed by what we consider to be poor portion sizes for a Chinese takeout restaurant, as well as food that was minimally acceptable in terms of taste. Our “Chef’s Special” General Tso’s chicken, which was well above $10 dollars for an order, was lukewarm upon delivery to our table, in addition to being overly sweet and taking the form of mostly breading. On the other hand, they have a proper dining room that is lush and comfortable! China House is okay, but I think Iowa City has better options, so unless you’re confined to this part of town/work or live next door, there may be better options available.
