It’s not often I comment on Chinese food because usually most taste standard. However, not this location! If you are looking for Chinese food DO NOT go here!!! I ordered shrimp fried rice and received yellow steamed uncooked rice and raw shrimp! When I called about rice I was told that their rice is yellow, so I said well it’s not fried rice! How very disappointing and false menu representation. It’s no wonder why place is ALWAYS empty. I suggest you get a better cook or change menu to steam yellow rice!

I ordered 3 egg rolls and a large pork fried rice. The egg rolls had a mushy and soggy taste, as if they came from the frozen food section of a supermarket. The pork fried rice had very little texture and tasted lika a combination of 3 to 4 day old rice that had been re-cooked, the rice had little to no vegetables or product used in the rice, very disappointing experience I will not return to this establishment.

Used to visit here once a week when I would pick up our son from waterset. Last weeks experience the food was not the same and noticed a completely different set of workers than my normal group. This week called again and had the same lady pick up. But would not honor a lunch special at 3:01 pm. Granted it took 2 times to call in and time to give phone number and speak my order.

New Ownership… We have been ordering the same menu items for over 14 years. In the reviews years ago, a 5 ⭐️ rating from our family is floating out there b/c every order has been consistently delicious. That said, I placed a take out order this weekend, got home and looked at the food. Not only packaged and looked differently with smaller portions but, tasted very different as well with the exception of the sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice was undercooked plain yellow rice- no onions, peas or carrots. The egg rolls were mushy and were not the same texture. The vegetable lo mien was so salty we could not eat it. I called the restaurant and gave my opinion of the food we received and truly hope my criticism was taken constructively to improve the quality of food from a restaurant we have been regular customers of over many years. I was also made aware of new ownership during this conversation.

The new owners changed so much of the menu , in a bad way. They should have kept many of the orginal recipes. Our old delivery driver told us on his last night of delivering , since management was changing hands it wouldn’t be the same and therefore he was leaving. Now I have an idea of what he meant. Won’t be back , the food Is terrible now.

We have visited this restaurant bi weekly for years. We stick to only this location. They had the best food quality and taste. It was consistently AMAZING. We ordered tonight and saw the owners have sold. The food reflected that change. We hope the flavor and quality improves, but for now we are disappointed. The owners were kind, but the food was not our typical experience. We took good Chinese food for granted. ); lol

We’ve tried all the Chinese restaurants in the area, and China Star is by far the best. The food is fresh and made to order and the service is always quick and friendly. The Hubs especially loves that they customize his order and make it extra spicy. The menu is extensive and you can’t go wrong, no matter what you order.

This restaurant is always a good choice. The family owned business is friendly and I have never had a bad experience here. Might be small but the food is always good and fresh. Sure wish they delivered, I’m willing to pay a few dollars more for that service.
