I found my way to this restaurant based on an article about how good their chitterlings are. For those of you who don’t know what chitterlings are, it’s pig intestines that when cooked right can make a delicious meal, just dont eat them from anybody who isn’t an expert in preparing chitterlings, you will pay the price if they are not cleaned properly. Well they were out of chitterlings so I decided to try some other items off the menu. I tried the BBQ chicken, ribs, brisket, and sausage with side orders of mac and cheese and collard greens. I also tried the lemon cake and banana pudding for dessert. I have to say if you want true BBQ off the grill this may not be the go to place for you. The food was tasty but the meat tasted like it was boiled and not grilled, again it was tasty but for you hard-core grill fanatics, you might be disappointed with the meats. The collards greens were straight out the can, and the mac and cheese looked and tasted like kraft out the box. The lemon cake was dry and the banana pudding was mediocre at best. The inside of the restaurant was nice and clean, and the workers were nice, but my reviews are about the food only, hence the 3 stars. The other piece of the article that caught my eye was that the author of the article stated that this was one of the 5 best soul food restaurants in killeen ….well if you’re looking for that stick to ribs soul food that grandma used to cook… keep moving. If you just want a nice meal that’s filling and tasty you won’t be disappointed.

Been coming here for over 20+ plus years! I usually get the combo plate but sometimes I get the half chicken plate or ham hock plate or pig feet plate. I’ve got sweet potato pie and I usually get tea or lemonade or both. All good, been good for over 20 years. I’m sad they don’t have a drive through anymore because the business next to them said it was part of their property and blocked it off

First time eating here and it wasn’t a great sandwich it was alright. The meat was dry and there were pickles on my sandwich which I am highly allergic to. I couldn’t eat the sandwich top I ate the bottom portion without the pickles. I wouldn’t order the sandwich ever again but I am sure I’ll find something I may like in the future.

Me and my mom have been going to choice BBQ for well over three years. They do have good food. My problem is… The car shop next door took away their drive-thru. I Understand the laws and the boundaries. But these people were paying them. Then all of a sudden they didn’t want the money anymore because of a family issue. Where the drive-thru used to be is now a place where they have cars parked. It looks extremely tacky.

I enjoy the greens and macaroni although I did have to add some seasoning. The ribs were not done at all . I had to put them in the oven to finish cooking. Disappointed!

staff was very warming & nice . wait time was decent . & food was warm with flavor !! only reason why not 5 stars because cornbread was kind of hard & yams weren’t sweet and enough . good portions of food also recommend briskets and the chicken ! nice place for a quick warm meal . thank you
