CHOO SANDO Menu – Austin, TX

Type : Japanese restaurant

Location : Austin, TX

What is Sando?
Sando is the Japanese shortened English for Sandwich. Sando is a light and enjoyable menu that Japanese people like to eat. It is a bit different than your normal everyday sandwich which has fresh vegatables, meats, and or seafood. The most important part of Sando is the milk bread (shokupan). The bread joins with the various ingredients in a simple and smooth manner, where you can enjoy and taste the natural flavor of each topping. Once you’ve tasted Sando you will definitely become addicted to it. I hope from now on, through me, you can taste and feel the charm of Sando.

Finally got to try @choo_sando_omakase! We got there at 11:45am and the place was almost already sold out! I was lucky enough to get an unagi sandwich, and it was . The eels was breaded and fried for the perfect crunch and soft fish texture. Mixed with the sauce and perfect avocado slices and crispy thin shredded slaw ‍ . I feel like there just aren’t enough unagi dishes in Austin. My wife got the spicy chicken sandwich which was really good, and it makes me wonder what it’d taste like heated up (they provide heating instructions). The Japanese milk toast was excellent, and people need to remember that all sandwiches are prepared before opening. I can’t forget about the seared salmon nigiri! One of my faves at any sushi restaurant, and it was perfectly executed here. Overall, an excellent experience. Next time, I would try to come right at the opening to get the full selection of sandwiches. I can’t wait to come back!

As soon as you walk in it feels like a little piece of Japan (or I assume at least.) They run out of food quickly so come early. We had the daily sushi box, and it was so delicious, fresh fish, and they even provided real wasabi! I only wish they added a little bit more rice to each piece, maybe like 15-20% more. The katsu sandwich and the strawberry one were also very good. The white bread is so dense but soft, I assume they make it in house. I will definitely come back.

Cute sandwich and sushi shop. The shop sells sweet and savory sandwiches, and they sell sushi sets or you can order omakase sets for pick up on Thursdays and Friday. I recommend getting the fruit sandos, they are delicious and the cream isn’t that sweet. The katsu sando, variety mix (shrimp, katsu, spicy chicken) was also very good. The katsu sandos come with the katsu sauce which you can dip in. It is pricey for the sandos but they are tasty and good quality. Although it says to eat within 72 hours, I find the bread too soggy after day 1, so definitely eat it the day you buy it so that it is fresh and not too soggy. Check out their website, you can order for parties.

This place is adorable and the food is made with such care! The sushi is beautiful and the fish is super high quality. My favorite thing is the ebi tamagoyaki roll—sweet seasoned egg wrapped around fried shrimp and tofu. SO GOOD.

A good option when you are low on time and want a quick bite. When you walk in the sandwiches will be on display on a refrigerated shelf. They have a variety of options from pork, chicken, seafood, and fruit ones. I highly recommend getting at keast a fruit one, the taste is rich and sweet without it feeling like it’s too much. The pork katsu one was good as well. They are a bit on the pricey side but are worth it every once in a while as a treat to yourself. There’s a small seating area but you can dine in and take out at this location.

Choo Sando is a great Japanese restaurant for a delicious lunch or dinner. This place offers a wide variety of sandos as well as sushi boxes. We tried the Katsu sando and were absolutely satisfied with our choice.

I’m not huge sandwich fan but that might change because of them. I received some of their sandwiches as a gift and loved them! The strawberry cream sandwich was fresh and the whipped cream was definitely made in house . The chicken and fish sandwiches were very satiate, fresh, and flavorful. Despite the sandwiches fully packed with meat, veggies or fruits, it didn’t make a mess when I ate them. Whoever prepped the sandwiches must be very skilled. Can’t wait to get more!

Amazing!! A game changer. My wife and I purchased the Omakase and had one of the best sushi dinners in a very very long time. Quality was extremely fresh and everything was well thought out and beautiful. It really tastes like one was in Japan. This company needs to be nation wide!!! Thank you very much Chef Choo!
