What a nice find for us. We had Athena’s Gourmet Special pizza. It was superb. The art and photography displayed are worth the trip itself. Great wildlife photography that is museum quality. I know I’ll be back and I recommend Christo’s Pizza for a really good meal.

I got a mediterranean pie and added garlic. I also got a chicken gyro. I was going to save the gyro for lunch, but it was so good I ate the whole thing. The pizza was very good also and I said some of that for lunch the next day.

This place was recommended by an employee at Mass Moca. Everyone knows pizza is basically a scam – you pay close to $20 for maybe a few dollars of ingredients. But a good crust – crispy and chewy, a bit charred from a brick oven – can make all the difference. Unfortunately, Christo’s failed at this. We ate here on a weekday, early evening, after visiting Mass Moca. My daughter and I were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered the Athenian pizza – olives, Feta cheese and fresh tomatoes. After 25 minutes, I asked when our order might be ready. There were a lot of pizzas being made in the kitchen, but clearly not for us. The cook said ours would be ready very soon. Very soon turned out to be another 10-12 minutes. When we finally began to eat, the pizza was extremely salty (yes, Feta and olives are salty, and I like salty food, but this was ridiculous). But the worst part was the crust. As I wrote above, a good crust can save mediocre toppings. Nowadays you can buy Italian 00 pizza flour in any supermarket, and watch a YouTube video on how to bake a really good pizza. So there’s no excuse for this crust being so awful. Tough, dry, flavorless, and at the edge there was an inner layer of very dry, floury dough, indicating it had been rolled and re-rolled multiple times. I would have given it one star, but the woman at the counter was pleasant and polite, so two. Maybe it was an off night, but if this is North Adams’s best pizza, you gotta wonder about the other places.

They made my wife and I feel like family the very first time we walked in. Their Pizza is, dare I say it, amazing as were the prices! The employees are just as great! I highly recommend stopping there if you live in or a visiting Western Massachusetts. You won’t regret it!!

Local, family-owned, and well executed pizza!! Their crust is super flaky and buttery, which is a nice departure from the norm. I definitely recommend trying their white sauce. And given that the folks who run the place are some of the nicest in town, its worth making this a regular spot.
