Came here for brunch on a Saturday right as they opened. The atmosphere is incredible, such a cool space. Everyone on the staff was really kind. The beet and barata salad was incredible, but I wish I’d gotten something other than the farmhouse sandwich—not that it wasn’t good I just think I might have liked something else a bit more. I’d go back for dinner another time.

Does it get more perfect than dining on an incredible meal in a beautifully refurbished church in Charleston? Recommend this spot to anyone visiting who is looking for the quintessential Charleston experience. Service is great, food and cocktails are phenomenal and the ambiance is second to none.

The place was boomin, so we ended up sitting on the patio, in July, but they went out of their way to seat us in the shade. We got to see the interior as we walked through, which is where the atmosphere is at. Our server, Grant, was awesome! He made great recommendations and catered to us even when he was in the direct sunshine. We ordered classic meals, but with a C&U twist. I ended eating some unpleasant looking stuff on my fried chicken, but was pleasantly surprised! I feel so fancy now! I would have loved to see more of the interior, but we were more than happy with our visit!

One of my favorite places we visited in Charleston. It was also one of the more pricier visits, but very worth it for the experience! We were originally seated in the side room, but quickly found spots at the bar to enjoy the eclectic atmosphere of the main room. The pork belly and grits were savory and decadent beyond words. Drinks were great, but for the price point I wish you got a bit more.

We were in town for my birthday ! Made reservation over open table for party of 12. One of the best experiences we had in Charleston. Our server was Jake, he was very attentive even recommended good bars made sure I had a great birthday dinner. ALL of our food was amazing. Worth paying for and all good cocktails. Appetizer 10/10. Entree 10/10 Dessert 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 . So beautiful inside, if I ever visit back would love to go during another time. SO SO GOOD have to go!

This was such a great place to sit down and have dinner. My mom has been here a couple of times before and said it was a staple place we needed to eat at during our trip with another friend. And she was right! The service was so kind and our waiter, Rhett, was extremely helpful in understanding what to order and knowledge about both the church’s and restaurant history! The church itself was gorgeous and the hand painted story ceiling was incredible – I could have sat for hours just looking up and reading the ceiling! From amazing drinks; like the unique Old Fashions, to a delicious appetizer; like the Kung Poa Wings that made my friend want to do the happy food dance, to extremely flavorful entrees, this is hands down an unforgettable dinner! It’s hard to go wrong with food in Charleston, but to get the service and historic atmosphere at Church and Union enlightened the experience!

What a fabulous place!! The food was amazing. Our server was great. I would recommend this for everyone. It was so great from when we arrived until our departure. Even though it was Sunday brunch, the music was super.

Great vibe. The atmosphere matched the food, which was wonderful. The bar tender was polite and knew how to make a specific drink I wanted. I hate the wings and oysters. Spot on. This restaurant used to be a church back in the day! The art of war is literally written on the ceiling, by hand! Awesome place. The attire is chill. I’ll be back!
