The food was fine, good not great, would have been okay had the service not been terrible. On multiple occasions our waitress disappeared for 15+ minutes at a time, once when we were finished with apps and ready to order and once after we ordered and we were waiting on another drink. I’m not sure if it weren’t for the manager we would have ever gotten our food or drinks.

I have been visiting this establishment since before 2019. They have awesome customer service skills. The restaurant is always clean. Certain days have different drink specials. They serve lunch and dinner. Their menu is huge. They even offer small meals for those who have picky kids like mine. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. Thank you Cinco De Mayo for all your service.

First off, this place is horribly understaffed. I went on a Saturday and there was only one waitress and one hostess for the whole restaurant. Second of all, the food was horrible. I love Mexican food, and this place was BAD. I got the queso, which was just a white cheezsauce, with no peppers or flavor at all. The Hawain quesadilla was only 2 peices for $16.99 and some watery sourcream. When I got it, there were zero veggies inside, no pineapple and the chicken was so dry. This may be the worst Mexican food I have ever had. How do you mess up a quesadilla? HOW?

The ambiance was nice but our service was not up to my standards as far as paying attention to detail. I’ve been there a few times and I’ve always loved the atmosphere and the food but the quality and the presentation of the food have changed and I’m not sure how they can resolve the issues. I ordered something that I found to be fairly simple and not only did my order come out wrong they did not offer a solution and stayed away from the table until it was time to reconcile the bill. We had three tables of guests and when our third table was seated they wouldn’t give them chips and salsa while they waited to order. I watched them seat a couple at a nearby table and they ran out to make them comfortable with the same chips and salsa that they said, they could not serve at our third table. I’m a foodie, I treat servers and host with the dignity and respect that they deserve, I tip accordingly, and even though I was overcharged I graciously paid and tipped and made a mental note not to ever come back at dinner time. Lunch is usually my thing, I should probably stick with that!

If you want to sit outside and enjoy a beverage on the blocked off Monroe Center St on a pleasant afternoon, Cinco de Mayo is the place for you. If you want to eat good Mexican food, plenty of better options will be superior for you in Grand Rapids, many of them less expensive. We were literally at the end of our 15 minute waiting time after being seated for someone on the waitstaff to check in with us. I wish they had approached our table 45 seconds later. The service was fine and food delivered promptly. However, the chips were stale and flavorless, the fajitas particularly greasy, and my dining partner’s food overall flavorless. I don’t expect I’ll be back.

This a very and I mean a very good Mexican food,we were visiting from Houston TX and this place has a more Mexican flavor in it’s food than most of the restaurants here in HOUSTON so this was definitely worth the trip oh and the prices OMG super cheap if we compare them to Houston restaurants
