Dinner mid-May, slightly off season but one of the better options in EH. All our dishes were delicious and well made. The calamari and zucchini appetizer was lightly fried, fresh and tasty. The eggplant Parmesan was very good. The minestrone was a little disappointing personally, a little thick, almost like tomato sauce, and the flavor was a bit sharp, perhaps too acidic.

Unfortunately I had to go with the rest of the 1 stars. I sat at the bar on a Thursday night and ordered a pasta and a side of Brussels sprouts. It took the kitchen 50 minutes to produce a bland dish of pasta bolognese (just pasta with minced meat in sauce). The wait was so embarrassingly long that the bartender had to apologize to me multiple times. (He eventually covered my drink). The Brussels sprouts fared slightly better with a good balance of flavors. Overall would not recommend. I can cook the same dishes for much less time and pretty much the same flavor. The saving grace is the professional service I received.

For Saturday lunch, wonderful food, the chef is excellent, the decor is classic europe ideal. The service is not so classic. The waitstaff ended my sentences. The flatware are laid on the table wrapped in paper serviettes. The tables are so close together that people were bumping against my seat. There were some fabulous semi circular booths for groups that wouldn’t get bumped. They did find me a glass of port, not on the menu, to have after the meal. But all these details stopped the place from being luxuriois

Good place for a meal. We chose the outdoor seating and something from the roof kept falling off constantly. Because the restaurant wasn’t busy, there wasn’t any one to hear it out. Overall a nice place!

I recently ate dinner in Cittanuova — we were a party of three. This has been a go-to restaurant for me for so many years, that I nearly forgot to post the 5 star review that it deserves. Cittanuova always has fantastic fresh food, excellent preparation, timely service with a smile, and a superb atmosphere. They don’t take reservations – which is a plus because you can always get in and the wait is never long. The garden in the back is my favorite place to sit. We ordered the pizza and salad to share as starters, and our entrees included eggplant parm, pasta with clams, and pasta with sausage & broccoli rabe. Everything was amazing, and we all left with a smile on our faces. I will always go back to this restaurant and cannot recommend it more highly! 5 stars all the way.

How can food be this bad? The gnocchi looked like it was squeezed out of a tube, the texture slippery and flavor incorrect. It was swimming inside a watery substance perhaps meant to be a sauce. The accompanying pork belly was sloppy, loose and and wet with no flavor. This was on a Saturday evening. It hurt to pay $28 for something that was inedible. The atmosphere is that of an airport bar. For a better meal and more attentive service, go have a sandwich at a Starbucks.

Great place, reasonable prices. Several seating areas for different moods. Outdoor seating overlooking the street, dining room seating, and in the rear of the restaurant is another semi-outdoor dining area with a waterfall for ambiance. Food was great. The ministrone soup was fantastic, and the rice balls were excellent. Veal piccatta was also great. Great location in East Hampton, and the service was great. We’ll be going back again soon.
