We stopped in for brunch on Sunday. It wasn’t too busy but may have been a little short staffed. Even so, our waitress/barkeep, was very efficient and kind. We didn’t wait long and she had our entire order (changes and additions) without a note memorized. It was impressive we did a build your own.

City Squire is such a gem to have in the neighborhood. The food is always delicious and inventive, and the beer selection is awesome. I love the atmosphere here. There’s outdoor eating options when the weather is nice and there’s always a good crowd. The waitstaff and bartenders are so friendly and personable. It’s a very welcoming environment. We’ve never had anything to eat that we didn’t like, but I’d have to say their fried chick peas are our favorite. We also really like the fried chicken sandwich and Squire turkey club. They are huge and bursting with flavor! Overall, City Squire is consistently on point with their food and beverages and a are a reliably great night out any day of the week.

Where should I start!..me, my husband, and daughter went here for dinner and it was just horrible. So to start it took a while to get our order, and it was so loud the entire time. The cocktail menu is horrible. Only like 6 choices of pretty basic cocktail drinks. No burbon or martini options. They were out of an ingredient for expresso martini. We both ordered Manhattans and they came on the rocks, when normally they should be up. Then they put chicken in my daughter’s cheese quesadilla after we waited a long while for our food. The waitress apologized and says they will take it off and remake it. However once we get the check, she only removed 50% of her kids meal price ($3.50). With a mistake like that, they should of removed the whole 7 bucks. My daughter wanted to pack it up anyway for home because we were there a while, and had to eat our meal without her.

I was looking for a venue for a baby shower for my daughter and son-in-law and Googled “restaurants in Schenectady with a private room.” When I saw the City Squire come up in the results I thought, Yes!, because I then remembered the upstairs space from going to a private event there a few years ago.

Went with mom on a Saturday for an early lunch. Loved that they had a parking lot (hard to find sometimes in Schenectady) Loved the interior. We were seated near the bar at one of the low tables, (mom can’t handle the high tops). Nicole was the bartender and server and greeted us with a friendly smile and attitude. We had the cheese curds to start. Very crispy on the outside and cheesy goodness on the inside. Loved the honey drizzle for that hint of sweet. I had the goat cheese sandwich and mom had fish and chips Both very tasty and plentiful and had to ask for boxes to take home. Great beer selection and mom loved the peanut butter martini. Atmosphere was pleasant and had a neighborhood bar feel. Will definitely go back. Nicole made our experience very special. Thank you!

Fine neighborhood pub. The food is excellent. I am especially fond of the fried chicken and Philly cheese steak sandwiches with waffle fries. Good selection of beers on tap. Great service and staff.

Not impressive, just another place. There are a few typos on the menu. One of their ingredients is spicy melba sauce which is an overly sweet jam-ish sauce. That made my grilled veggies sandwich taste like jam sandwich with some vegetables. I feel this jam requires its own disclaimer when someone orders it. The environment is a bit noisy. The last thing I want to suggest is having a “tap” option for payment. We went there after a run and were only carrying our phone to pay with.

The acoustics are horrible due to all the wood surfaces, walls and ceiling. Great beer taps! Service was great, my fish and chips was mostly chips. It’s not a place that I feel comfortable hanging out. In summer they have chairs outside but up against the bar. I’ll bet the acoustics and overall feel are better there. It’s often busy, a full parking lot is common. You should try this place and make up your own mind.
