Rishi took our order and informed us that they were takeout only and he was nice enough to set up a table with a heater for my family while we waited for the food. The food came out fresh and hot and as specified in terms to spice levels, etc. I’d highly recommend Clay Oven to anyone craving some authentic Indian food in the La Jolla area.

Primarily a takeout place started during Covid. We came here after a chilly evening in La Jolla coves. They only have outdoor seating but had heaters to keep us warm. The service was extremely friendly and quick. I enjoyed all the curries, especially the Malai kofta and dal. The garlic naan was a delight as well. The kheer is their specialty dessert and it didn’t disappoint.

Been eating the lunch special here for a couple years regularly, the curries used to be very good, however recently the quality has decreased and the curries have become more watery and less flavorful. The lunch special is still a good value for decent curries, but the drop in quality is a shame, I would gladly pay a little more money for the original quality.

My husband and I are Indian cuisine lovers and can honestly say this spot is a gem! It is probably best to grab take out or order online. We decided to take it on the go and indulge at the beach. We both ordered our meals medium spicy and they were perfect! I typically am not a fan of the Korma my husband gets but I tried his anyway and liked it too! The cheese naan was a new one to us and we loved it. The garlic naan was delicious! My shrimp tikka masala was fantastic. If you dig Indian cuisine I think you’ll love this restaurant. If your new to Indian cuisine I would recommend starting with “Butter chicken”. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Underwhelming all around, they charge more than any other indian restaurant in the area, offer smaller portions and have only the communal seating area. Very disappointed, with the reviews I’d seen I was expecting more.
