Really amazing experience at Codex. We will be back. Nduja toast and prosciutto tart to start were both amazing but the tempura fried mushrooms stole the show. For the mains, the chef was able to modify the radiatori with lamb instead of shrimp which was really really fantastic. Could not recommend more!

Wonderful service tonight & a great meal. The Roasted Cauliflower with vaduvan, garlic lime yogurt, mint, chillies & honey…AMAZING! Started with the Oyster Mushrooms are tempura fried light, ramp ranch, togarashi, & gastrique…. DELICIOUS! Entrees: the Charcoal Chicken & the Rockfish…both excellently prepared & full of flavor – the fennel chermoula popped!! And took the Chocolate Pecan Tart home with me!!!!

Best dining experience of my life. And we eat at a lot of restaurants. Service was PHENOMENAL. She made great recommendations and asked all the right questions to help us find the perfect dish. We started with the Brussels sprout appetizer. It was so we good we ordered another one. DO NOT sleep on the Brussels. I had the downtown revival cocktail- slightly sweet&sour and very refreshing. My husband had the old fashioned and loved it. He ordered the crab cakes which was a special the night we went and they were incredible. I had the duck. It came with a vegetable medley and sweet potato soufflé. It was so tender and well flavored. I savored every bite. It was food heaven. As for overall experience- the restaurant is well designed and styled. We went in the evening and the low light made for an intimate feel. Even the bathrooms were immaculate with a modern feel and great smelling candles lit. If you’re in the area, it’s a must.

We went during restaurant week, where area restaurants offer a 2 or 3 course predetermined menu at a $35 or $45 dinner price tag. I appreciated how Codex did their offering as you could choose anything on their menu to create your own 3-course meal, just that some items had an upcharge.

Ordered quite a few things off the menu. The fresh oysters were amazing and the anchovies and ham. The carrots and the cauliflower were really good. However the main courses left a lot to be desired. The a steak was cold and the duck was sub-par. However the sticky toffee was amazing.

This restaurant has been saved on my “Want to Go” ever since I’ve been in Norfolk so I’m excited to share my experience. They were a little bit busy so the entrees had to get boxed up to go, but the overall dining atmosphere was outstanding. The personnel were extremely attentive and the food of course was delicious.

My husband and I came here because we sold the owner one of our cameras for him to make memories with. We also grabbed food as we dropped off the camera, and WOW. Our experience was phenomenal, we were greeted and sat and the server was happy to direct us to a fabulous drink/food combo. Every employee that interacted with our table was kind and asked about our experience. The drinks and food were absolutely delicious, and blew us away. We cannot wait to come back again and again to this spot. They use the space well, and their menu is fantastic!
