The best Portuguese BBQ cuisine in the in area. The food is amazing and I highly recommended this restaurant to anyone. Very disappointed with this place!!! Have been a loyal customer since I moved to the area 3 years ago, have used them before for catering and always order from them, have referred them to my neighbors and family. Well today once again, I ordered the same thing I always order, which is half bbq chicken and half beef ribs. There’s even been times when I’ve called and once I give them my number, they’ve asked me if I want the usual and always say yes. Today I made my same order. Once I got home, I started serving the food to my kids, which they always want the chicken first, I then noticed the tray had pork ribs (I don’t eat pork) instead of beef. I immediately called and said that’s not what I had ordered. I was told they were going to do the beef ribs and to pay the difference, ok that was fine I said. But then I mentioned I had already started serving the food, not eating it though. So I said, do you want me to throw the food back in the tray? They said no, they couldn’t take it because I had touched the food, I completely understand and agree with that. However, instead of owning up to their mistake and offering me just the beef ribs, they said I had to pay for a whole new order. Being a loyal customer, I’m obviously very upset that they would do that, if they had bothered to look at my previous orders they would know it’s my usual, it’s not like I’m trying to get free food, I was ok with paying the difference but I’m not ok with paying for a whole new order. Never again!

We’ve ordered several times from Colonia BBQ and their delivery is very slow. We usually order an hour before lunch time because that usually the time it takes to get our delivery to our job site that’s 5 minutes away. Last time we placed an order at 12PM, called several times around 1:30 for update on delivery and was told numerous times that our order was on the way. At 2:00 we left to a different site and delivery had not arrived. Got a call at 3:30 that our delivery was outside. 3.5 hours later? Really?

After my first review, I said the bbg beef rib tasted funky. Well to my surprise Sofia, the owner emailed to apologize for the bad experience. She invited me to come back and make good and I did. She was there working the counter. I introduced myself and she took our exact order. This time everything came out perfect. The beef ribs were juicy and flavorful as well as the chicken. The fries were crispy and rice moist. The salad was very fresh to finish off the entree. Service is also attentive but, not rushed. It is always nice to see the owner actually work the establishment. Sofia takes pride in her business and even though it is mainly takeout eat in for an enjoyable dinner. Btw, it’s byob.

Ordered a tray of cubed Beef and a tray of cubed Pork. Fed 5 of us with leftovers. Really tasty and comes with Rice and Fries. Woulda been nice to have the fries in a separate container…. Highly recommend!!

I absolutely love this place and have been going for over 10 years and have never ever had a bad meal! This is me and fiancés fav go to date night spot. Be sure to CALL AHEAD if ordering out bc alot of times there is a long wait. When I lived in keyport I would call before I left and sometimes I would get there and STILL wait 20-30 mins. I wish they would deliver to Carteret!! 🙁
