The original cơm tấm (broken rice) restaurant in Little Saigon. It is still relevant and still one of the best places for the Vietnamese special rice dish. Portions are on the smaller side compared to other similar restaurants but all the flavors are on point. Don’t expect too much atmosphere in this type of restaurant. It’s crowded and loud. People just come here for a good meal! Service is fast.

I highly recommend the Com Tam Thit Nuong Cha. The meat is well-seasoned and charred slightly without being burnt. The soup is a great addition that comes with the broken rice dish.

This place has been around forever and is well known for its com tam (broken rice) dishes. It’s got the here’s-a-menu-what-do-you-want service that’s typical of older Vietnamese restaurants, which is great if you want to get in and out quickly. Overall, it’s a pretty solid com tam restaurant with reasonable prices.

The only place you should go for Com Tam! The food is always consistent. Still tastes the same in the 15 plus years I’ve been coming here. The workers are used to the constant orders so they work fast and helpful too. I don’t eat inside too often, but the place always looks clean and has a homey feel to it.

Very good food. It was loud and busy and we felt like we were ignored after they seated us but they finally they took our order and the food came out quickly. I think we got there at one of their busiest times because by the time we were done eating, half of the people in the restaurant had left. Get their broken rice with the pork and egg. It’s delicious and their specialty.

Very good broken rice dishes. Egg on top is the best.

Solid broken rice place with good steam pork/egg cake and flavorful meat. I really like the fish sauce that came with it. Very filling as well

I am living in San Gabriel Valley, near Los Angeles. There were many Vietnamese restaurants in my area but I thought Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon were better. Turned out I was wrong. I ate cơm tấm (broken rice) with chả trứng, tàu hủ ky, bì which cost $14.95 plus tax. Not a large portion & not as good as the same order at Cơm Tấm Kiều restaurant on Valley Blvd, Rosemead city nearby my house (which cost less, about less than $13). We also ordered seafood wonton soup, which cost more than $12 plus tax, which was not good either.

For Com Tam (broken rice), there is no better place in terms of quality and taste. The only stipend is that this place is expensive and the portions are smaller compared to others around. This place is so good. I’ve been going here for years with my family since I was a kid. My usual dish is the combo 8 – com tam thit nuong with bi, cha, and ta hau ky. Com Tam is rice that’s made from short grain rice, Bi is dried shredded pork skin, cha is a delicious egg cake made with vermicelli, ground pork, egg, and mushrooms, and ta hau ky is shrimp cake wrapped with fried tofu skin. You get complimentary soup and it’s eaten with a sweet fish sauce that’s poured over the rice. Bon appetit!
