The food is excellent! We got the fried chicken sandwich and burger and were both impressed. We got the butter cake for dessert, which was surprisingly good! Our food was excellent boosting an otherwise 4 star review to a 5. The restaurant was absolutely freezing, and the seats aren’t particularly comfortable. The service was okay, nothing great.

Overall mediocre experience. The only part that I’d save was the service by a friendly and professional staff. Ambiance: too loud, noisy… which could be solved if they used a bit of fabric details here and there. The chairs are made of metal, which makes them overly uncomfortable, while the long wooden benches are too hard. The place was really cold, so much so that most people were wearing their jacket even while eating. Really disappointing

Fantastic food and craft cocktails. I Tuscon for a couple weeks and I will be back! We samples the Muscles (order extra bread to soak up the delicious broth) Brussels Sprouts, Artichoke Dip and the Caesar Salad. The bartender was engaging and delightful.

They’ve upped their game a bit. Excellent food and service! Good selection of beer. Friendly vibe.

We visited on 7/1/23 and while we thought it was good, we didn’t love it or felt the need to go back. I ordered the steak along with one of my friends and while my friends steak was good, mine was dry even though we both got medium. The sides with the steak were also bad except for the corn cake, and even that was just okay, and we could get it at another restaurant. Another person ordered the bolognese and I didn’t get to try it, but they said that it was mediocre at best. Another person ordered the grilled cheese and that was the only thing I really liked. The service was also slow. Overall, Commoner and Co was not a place that I would recommend, unless if you are really close to it.

Good food. Got the artichoke dip (fairly large and a good deal during happy hour) and the sambal braised beef. Both were great, the dip was probably the best artichoke dip I’ve had, and was served with some nice toast. The sambal beef was slightly too salty in my opinion, but otherwise very delicious (served with collard greens and goat cheese polenta). The restaurant interior is nice, but the tables were a little too close together. Would come back! The food is definitely a great deal for the price, so long as you’re not ordering a steak, anyway!

This was the very first restaurant I ate at when I first came to Tucson. I was blown away by the food, the friendly “cheers” like staff, and frequented at least once a week. Unfortunately over the years the food has declined along with service and staff. Once Adam, the previous manager, went to Prep and Pastry the restaurant’s vibe completely changed. We use to suggest this place to our Airbnb guests and now we don’t. I really hope this restaurant can transform back to what it use to be; fantastic, creative food with services that matches.

We were put off by the atmosphere. Visited thinking it would be a nice, quiet, semi-formal dining experience. It is more of a food-centered bar experience. It is very loud and difficult to impossible to have a good conversation. The menu is small but varied. A few Fusion style dishes. The food preparation and presentation is better than average for Tucson but not spectacular. Pop in for a casual dinner or lunch and you won’t be disappointed.

I’m convinced this restaurant is incapable of serving unexciting food. They even make carrots (honey glazed with candied walnuts and bleu cheese) taste like the best Thanksgiving side dish you’ve ever had. If you love great food without the smoke and mirrors and indulgence of other restaurants, you will love Commoner & Co.
