The Local Guide
I don’t give many 5 stars, but once in a while I come across a place that is a step above the rest. I ordered a Ruben with fries and a beer. The Ruben had the perfect toast crunch just the right amount of meat to dressing ratio. Great Ruben taste, the fries were as Crispy as you could get without over cooking. Not your normal French fries much better. The bar tender John was super nice, talking to him he is a retired police officer of 30 years and so nice to talk to. Food came out quick and hot. I’m glad I had a nice cold beer on hand. Not often do I interact with the owners, but they were present in the bar talking to customers. It’s nice to see hands on owners. Patty is one of the owners and turns out she volunteers at a local homeless shelter. How wonderful is that. Place is a old town pub and food is great, can’t wait to try other items.

This place is located in the beautiful borough of Yardley. Servers are very nice and friendly. Food quality has room to improve (although the onion rings were awesome!)

Cool building, nice menu and the food was good. Service was friendly but very slow and not very good. Server seemed to forget about us a bit. But we all enjoyed our meals and I would return if I’m back in the area.

Just had a beautiful high school graduation lunch in the upstairs room. Delicious food, outstanding service for the 15 of us in a cozy historic setting. The spring salad with strawberries was perfect. Next time I hope to dine on the outside porch- with fewer friends of course!! Thank you for helping to make this day special!

Very cool place. My boyfriend was told that it was part of the underground railroad from the owner and all the bottles on display are from it. I think it is a super cute place. The food was really good. Would definitely come again.

If you want a laid back enjoyable experience with a moody atmosphere, then you should come here. The food is amazing, which did take me a little by surprise just how amazing because the menu is a lot of your typical American bar classics. I would caution on bringing smaller children here since the sit down area is smaller, but it is family friendly which I appreciate. Definitely try the chefs specials, I got to have the best salmon burger I’ve ever tried. We will be back again soon!

This restaurant offers American staples that provide comfortable familiarity with a side of history. The Continental Tavern had several lives through it’s over 200-year history and one of those lives was as a stop on the underground railroad. After the hearty black & bleu burger with sweet potato fries that I had, Chris, the general manager was so kind to take me a tour of the building. In the basement you can see the original foundation and bricks that created the tunnels for the enslaved to escape to freedom via the Delaware River which is two miles from this location. It’s amazing how the former owners of this establishment were compelled to bring justice to the enslaved people that deserved to be free. During my visit, a local band was playing in the bar area and I was told that other events such as tarot readings take a place on a revolving basis. This is true gem in Yardley that everyone must visit for the food and history lesson.

Been here many times , but not since before covid. I always felt they had best burgers ever. To me they have changed. They were a frozen thick patty. Hardly any char from a flat top. Pink all the way through but no brown crispness on the outside, which made it mushy and soft. Disappointing. The service was spot on and as always the surroundings clean and friendly.

We actually wound up visiting the Continental Tavern because of an exceptionally long wait at the Vault, and we were pleasantly surprised. This place perfectly fits the concept of a local pub with family friendly dining area. They specialize in elevated pub food like burgers (we went with the New Orleans…topped with andouille sausage and shrimp), grinders, and a short list of hearty entrees like steak, crab cakes, and shepherds pie. We also ordered one of their cauliflower crust pizzas from the specials. As far as drinks, expect a short craft beer menu, a wine selection that span the spectrum, and a few house cocktails.
