Dave’s dream of opening up a deli was realized after he moved to Oregon in 1997 and found there weren’t any wedge (sandwich) shops that served authentic East Coast style grub. Dave’s desire of constructing delicious food has led him to spend numerous years passionately mastering the art of seasoning and roasting meats and building delicious homemade salads and sauces. When you eat at Cozzie’s NY Deli, you’ll experience the taste as an authentic, busy hard-working New Yorker would. Now come eat!

This place is legit!! The sandwiches, we had 12 and 13, are delicious. The Mac and cheese was creamy with a hint of smoky from the added bacon, incredible! If you are ever in Salem, you have to check it out. If you dined in, don’t forget to leave your rubber band wrapper on the bats…

I’m so happy they are near my job because this place is so good, and the customer service is great! Yes, there may be a little bit of a wait to get your food depending on what time you go so if you were to go at Noon when everyone has their lunch than yes you will have to wait a little bit longer but it’s so worth it! Their sandwiches are delicious, you can taste the time/quality in each one they make that is why they remain so busy. I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t tried them out to do so when you get the chance!

I’m search of a good New York or Jewish deli especially if they make a traditional rye and pastrami. For this sandwich they miss the mark for my taste but their meatballs sandwich is pretty good. Large meatballs and a nice dark gravy. I took it to go but if you dine in you might visit outside the busy noontime hour as the tables fill up. I’ll return to try other sandwiches but my hunt for that pastrami on rye continues.

Absolutely brilliant sandwiches with delish fresh meat, their pastrami is out of this world! I’m a huge fan of their chicken cutlet sandwiches as well. Tasty sides and a drink selection that includes the best soda ever, San Pellegrino, are a bonus. I’ve only ever spent a week in New York, so I can’t speak to that component, but I can tell you that these are some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever consumed. A hidden Salem gem, it deserves a visit from anybody in town.
