I used to go to the crabshack all the time with my parents growing up. Me and my father decided let’s walk down memory lane and go there again since it’s been a few years. Clearly there has been a change in ownership. They redid the place nicely, but the portion size are very small, and for the price I would expect to be a little more filled for what I was paying for. Sadly not, the case. At first look hey good prices as per back in the day, but the crabcakes were half the size of how they use to come. The seafood boil entree was the size of an appetizer if that, and the soup was so small, which I had to ask for after my father received his app, then main and I received my main. They weren’t busy. There were only two other tables.

The order was ready for pickup in good time and the cashier was friendly the only issue we had was with the food. We ordered 3 boil bags. 2 of them were the exact same order but one bag came with shrimp head off and the other with shrimp head on. The muscles did not taste good and it seems they were not cleaned properly as most of the “beards” were still attached. We could taste the sand in them and the taste and texture on some of them was definitely off. We ended up throwing most of the muscles away. The sauce was underwhelming and lacked flavor. The new england clam chowder was the worst I’ve ever had. It was flavorless and the consistency was way off. I could see the clumps of cornstarch inside the bowl and the whole thing was jiggly like jello instead of smooth and creamy. I really wanted to like this place because it’s so close to my house but I will not be returning.

The seafood was fresh, well prepared and competitively priced compared to other restaurants nearby. I was craving clams on the half shell and steamers and the Crab Shack did not disappoint. They also have a full bar and make a good Martini. The owner, Venus, was very friendly and accomodating. This is my new go to for seafood on the Nautical Mile.

The manager is nasty and needs a course in customer satisfaction. The food was horrible and not prepared as requested. I ordered three dinners- one incomplete, one half cooked, one shrimp dinner floating in red greasy jalapeño hot sauce, which I did not order. I asked for the manager and she was nasty and inconsiderate. Luckily, Grubhub reimbursed my order. I do not recommend this Restauraunt!

calamari was chewy and gummy, no tentacles for 17$ had as much as a small bag of chips. watery clam chowder soup soda was also watery. and the captain combos portions are so small that it should’ve been on a kids menu
