This is the most authentic Malaysian restaurant you can find in the Bay Area. The Char Kuay Teow is filled with wok hei. I recommend their Mamak Fried Chicken, Mee Goreng, and Assam Laksa (follow their FB page for heads up on weekend specials). You can also get good Teh Tarik here although sweetness is not adjustable.

A Penang style Malaysian restaurant. They provide standard menu and daily specials. I have only been here once so I cannot give complete judgement. I did order three items hok kein mee, mee goreng and nasi lemak with chicken randang. The mee goreng was the best dish out of all them .the hok kein mee was ok. I would give it 3/5. The mee goreng 3.5/5. The chicken randang with the rice and sambal would give a 3.5/5. I feel the chicken randang the gravy could have been reduced more give it a thicker base. Flavor wise it was on the milder side when it comes to aromatics. Put more dishes and aromatics in the base. The owners are very sweet and kind. I did feel like I was in a street side restaurant in Malaysia when I walked in. I think this place needs to be a bit more bold in terms of flavor. The recipes are authentic but they can amplify the same flavors more with a bit more aromatics and herbs. For example the mee goreng use garlic chives instead of spring onions. Garlic chives are more traditional. Satay was not on the menu. I think that should be standard in any Malaysian restaurant as a starter. I think as a weekly special introduce some malaysian fish beef curry or ikkan bakar or crab pepper. I know the owners are Malaysian and they can definitely be a bit more adventurous and bring their soul into their food and set a unique brand for themselves. There was nothing on the menu that stood out to me from other Malaysian restaurants in the bay area. That is why I ask you to use local California sea food and introduce Malaysian style sea food dishes. This place has potential to do much better and I think they can with a bit of risk.

Authentic Malaysian food in a casual setting. We tried the chicken rice, char kway teow, chendol, and iced teh tarik – and everything tasted great!

Enjoyed the generous portion of nasi kandar which is hard to find in many Malaysian restaurants. Char kway teow has a good amount to greasiness and char that makes them one of the closest to food in Malaysia I can find! Family run business, and enjoyed the familiarity of hometown food making the trip from SF worthwhile.

While the menu is limited, the dishes served reflect real Malaysian street food, and the quality is really high too. We got the nasi lemak and char kway teow and both were really good (but smaller than expected for the price).

This is one of the best Penang Char Keow Teow & Nasi Kandar in the Bay Area by far. It’s run by this friendly Malaysian couple. Their dishes are very authentic, reasonably priced & made with passion.
