Really disappointed we stopped here. My wife and I were greeted when we walked in and found a seat, looked over the menu and were excited about what we saw! Unfortunately that is where the enthusiasm ended. The kitchen was short staffed (which I don’t blame them for, nor the extended wait, life happens). But when we finally did get our breakfast sandwiches (advertised on the menu as being on a croissant!!) we were sorely disappointed with it. Placed on very lightly toasted plain bread, it seemed as if there was only half an egg on each sandwhich. I also did not get the bacon (which costs extra) either. We had other plans for the day and we were hungry so in order not to wait an additional half hour+, we elected not to mention this to any of the waitresses (credit to them, they were doing their absolute best in a busy and stressful situation).

We had a lovely dinner at Cynthia’s. The beef Burgundy was delicious. The music was great to listen to but also not intrusive. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Cynthia was a delight to meet and shared her story of her father’s favorite meal. The menu is not huge but we found it good. I loved the atmosphere on the patio. The wine is the best bargain around.

It was nice to find a cafe off the main strip. It is small but has seating in front and in back. The food was just ok. I had the stuffed avocados. They seem a bit frazzled – at least the person making coffee. It is super hot today so I’m sure that’s part of it. I did want water and asked if they had any. She said it would be in the front where all the other drinks were if they had any. They dont have bottled water. Later when I went to the bathroom before I left, I saw a bunch of carafes of water right across from her. I could have had a glass of water . Very frustrating

The food was cold and mushy with little flavor. We paid extra for bacon and strawberries…didn’t receive the bacon and only received FOUR strawberry slices. It took 40 minutes to come out and it wasn’t very busy. The staff was rude. The water stations to get your own water tasted like old hose water. There was live music on the patio, which sounds lovely but it was so loud that you couldn’t talk to your family. We were so disappointed and we will not be returning.

Waited over an hour to finally be told our food order was never placed. I never did get my drink or our food. Left starving and laughing at what a joke of a set up this place is and since we never got our food- who knows if it would even be worth a long wait. One staff member brought us two glasses with no water and several staff walked by us at least 25 times and never bothered to ask if we needed anything- instead they stood at the back area in the main room and ate- unbelievable?? OH, and the kicker is that they ran out of milk and other basic food ingredients for their limited menu and we watched the owner show up with groceries? I get it, its an island – logistics and all but this was comical. Work it out before you open the door. The whole process of ordering and food delivery was unorganized. The staff were constantly yelling at people to go outside or sit down and look at the menu and decide what they want before they get in line. I don’t know- maybe resolve this ciaos with a window out front opened to take orders, possibly put the menus outside the door with some simple signage to direct customers on what the heck you expect from them. Truly wondering if the fire marshal would shut this place down since the only entrance/exit is blocked by the line of people out the door. Do NOT go here if visiting Friday Harbor for a day trip only. We looked this place up and were excited to try it but sadly everything went wrong. We did not let it ruin our day on the island- but they certainly wasted our time and will waste yours- skip this place and go somewhere else.

Seat yourself, order and pay at the counter, get your own water, slow with no service follow-up. Limited seating inside (small and cramped tables) outside seating has huge umbrellas at each table with dirty cushions seat pads. The bowls were good, gluten free pancakes were thin and flat. The menu doesn’t list all of the items that are posted in reviews or online.

Wonderful, quaint, friendly cafe. Staff was so friendly and even got to chat with Cynthia herself. Cinnamon roll was incredible (top 3 for me)- flaky, buttery, light, but also gooey on the inside. Breakfast sandwich was also delicious. My SO’s classic breakfast was a gorgeous and yummy spread too (photo credit to her). Patio seating was protected and comfortable while also full of trees, natural materials, and quirky artwork. Everything that makes this island great.

Cynthia’s is the perfect local dining place. Beautiful outdoor patio garden seating, great friendly staff, and delicious home made foods. Excellent experience and perfect place for a quick coffee or mocha to go, too. My family and I have always loved dining at Cynthia’s for many years and we highly recommend this local gem!
