I ordered “shrimp scampi” here, expecting a nice hearty meal. What I received was 6 shrimp with sprinkled cheese. No pasta or sauce. If I knew this dinner item was so wrongly priced I would have never ordered it. I complained to the owner about such an absurd price, and she did nothing about it. I just got flamed out for “not knowing how to read the menu” and payed for my food, leaving pretty mad that night. My buddy almost ordered the same exact thing not knowing he’d get ripped off, but he lucked out. That just tells me I’m not the only one expecting a pasta meal for such a price.

Very nice friendly place. They will even let you use their microwave without a purchase. The shell across the street won’t let you use the microwave period for outside food which is bad for travelers who have their own food.

My husband and I stopped in for supper Oct 22. The waitress was absolutely the best and very friendly and informative. We were on our way back to Minnesota from vacation and had to stop last night and get off the slippery roads. Food was fantasti!

Not impressed at all. We got seated and waited quite awhile for someone to help us. Lady came over and got our drink order and brought us our drinks. Waited and then she came and got our order. Same person was also washing dishes at the same time while waiting on all the tables. We got our food an hour after we sat down. Terrible service. my steak was not right so I tracked her down to get it re-cooked. Then again waited as my son was almost done with his food, I finally got mine. All the time watching the one waitress get orders from all the tables, and also do the dishes. I will have to say the food was good, but after over an hour waiting to eat, that is terrible service. She never even came back after she brought me my re-cooked steak back to see if we needed anything else to eat or drink…I finally got up and left and went to the front and asked for our check. Will not go back. Hopefully the owner reads these as these small communities will support you but only if you have good service.

This is an updated post for the end year of 2018. D&K has went through many upgrades including changing its gas brand; which now offers cheaper gas than many competitors in the area. They got a new heating and cooling system which makes those hot summers and cold winters very comfortable. The menu did not change and the quality of the food is still good. The atmosphere is still a western rustic feel and family friendly. The bar still maintains its reputation of having the coldest beer in town. They expanded tap beers with seasonal varieties. For a small town cafe, bar, and gas station, this is a place to be if you are on highway 14 South Dakota.

My food was great, quick service, friendly. I just wish I could have gotten the chicken fried steak for lunch I had heard was delicious but only served in evening. Just left South Dakota and will never know now.

It was awesome the waitresses were amazing nice and kind. And the food was amazing I highly recommend travellers passing by to stop there. There was only one thing not too bad but the bathrooms were a bit gross but overall it was amazing
