I never thought the portion of dinner dish was so small. I invited a few friends for dinner. It was kind awkward after the dish served and I found the portion is so small. Also, even there are a list of choices on the menu, all dishes are cooked pretty much same way. Ma-po Tofu can’t be called Ma-po Tofu. Chinese pizza is frozen product from supermarket. Sechuan noodle is not sechuan noodle. The dishes are not authentic.

Usually just get take out, but it is a nice little kinda quiet sit down restaurant as well. This place is a Prospect Park landmark. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. The staff are all friendly, and very accommodating with substitutions, and any dietary restrictions you might have.

Finally a place that has fresh gravy with the shrimp egg foo young! Tired of eating the egg foo young with gravy that taste like it has been recycled 30 times over! Only con is they gave me 2 patties instead of 3 and my egg roll was doughy instead of crunchy.

My mom and I stopped by this establishment for lunch after my medical appointment in Philly today 6/17/22. We absolutely love Da Chen, been loyal customers of this establishment whenever we’re near there. We started off with cheese wontons. Both had delicious lunch combinations, I had chicken with cashew nut, my mom had twice cooked pork, both us had hot & sour soup, pork & shrimp egg rolls, pork fried rice that all came with our combos. Everything was delicious as always and even the awesome fried noodles with duck sauce are a hit. The lovely woman who runs this little mom & pop Chinese establishment remembered me. Definitely check out Da Chen, Highly Recommended!

Excellent service (caveat – we were only one of two tables seated, so I can’t speak on how it might be if busy, but they were doing a steady takeout business, and we still got our food quickly). Food was very good, and reasonably priced. I had a sizzling beef and scallop dish – the beef was not fatty, and the scallops were cooked well. The Chinese pizza (scallion pancakes) was crispy and not at all greasy.

We had dinner for 3 which included choice of 3 entrees. Egg rolls. Wonton soup. Complimentary hot tea and wonton strips with duck sauce. Great service. Great food and even ice cream at the end! $17.50 for each person. For a night out at a nice place with great food. Well worth it! We had gen chicken, chicken n broccoli and sweet n sour chicken.
