Founded as a single food truck in 2007, Da Nani Pirates specializes in fresh fish tacos, delicious wraps, salads, sliders, sandwiches, and burgers. Chef Josh Marten, the creator of Da Nani Pirates, has won over 50 culinary competitions including Maui Chopped as well as various national awards. Nearly every item on the Da Nani Pirates menu has won a culinary competition somewhere, said Chef Marten.
Favorites include the Davey Jones Bacon Cheeseburger, Big Kahuna Pulled Pork Sandwich, Seared Ahi Tuna Wrap, and Grilled Fish Tacos. In 2021, Da Nani Pirates launched its third food truck at Whaler’s Village, located just steps away from the world-famous Black Rock and Ka’anapali Beach, once named America’s Best Beach.

Best fish tacos I have ever had. SOOOO GOOD!!! Everywhere was booked for Valentine’s Day so I suggested this food truck. To my surprise, the best meal we have had in Kauai and Maui!! So fresh, amazing flavor and super fast. We are definitely hitting this spot a few more times before we leave. Amazing, amazing- AMAZING!!

Big disappointment. Firstly the food is just not tasty. Although we were hungry we lost all our appetite. Ordered the Davy Jones burger. The meat (both the beef and bacon) were undercooked. The sauce was weird (too sweet) and the entire burger was drenched in it. Fish and chips/fries were below average. Everything was much more oily than usual. Their service was lacking too. There was no numbering and we just got an approximate pick up time but we had to wait longer. They had also covered all of their prices with stickers and it turned out to be too pricey for a food truck and absolutely not worth the money.

So maybe not the healthiest choice of restaurants or take out options, but the food was good. If you are looking for a greasy spoon to cure your hangover or need to quench your fair food cravings this joint is the spot. Maybe not a place I would frequent or go out of my way to visit again, however it’s much better than other fast food options nearby and the servers are pleasant.

Food is affordable and good! Garlic shrimp, Captain’s platter, tacos, and mac salad are all great choices that I tasted and would recommend. Service is nice and fast. In front of the ABC a”store. Definitely need to stop by if you’re in Whaler’s Village.
