It tells me to describe my experience in this little section box. I will do my best. It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. The pork hock just melted off the bone. The greens were tender and moist. The fried okra, oh my gosh, the outside was nice and crisp and the inside was firm and not mushy. And those black eyed peas and rice…. I think my soul left my body. I’m pretty sure my soul went back over to this place to stay there.

Stopped in for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary for lunch. Everyone was just Happy, the cook was singing and dancing a bit while cooking (Loved the energy). Gave us a little side dish to have our son try (picky eater). The ride home was hard, smelling the food was torture. Finally got home and the Food was DELICIOUS!!. None of us could finish our meals and my son actually likes the side dish. We will definitely be coming back soon.

The food is delicious and there are many regulars. However they really need to staff better as there is usually a long wait especially around lunch and dinner time. And if you order from any of the delivery sites, there is a high probability that you will be waiting quite a while to get your food as they are not always on top of their online orders. Great food but needs some better management to get your food timely.

First time at this soul food spot and unfortunately it was a def never return for me. Jerk chicken dinner waited around 45mins for, My wings were so over cooked the meat was dry taste like jerky.. my dressing did not have gravy. I’m upset I have to take the other 2 dinners home to my son n daughter highly disappointed. You guys gotta do better

While food wasn’t horrible I was disappointed both times I went there. The first time I got the smothered chicken and the chicken was fried (in old oil and I’ve worked long enough in the food industry to know when the fry oil has not been changed as often as it should be) and gravy thrown on top. Very disappointing. Next time I tried the smothered pork chops and it was the same thing and both were a little excessive on the salt. This being said I will say that the portions are generous and the staff is friendly.

The corn bread dressing was the best dish followed by the greens. Unfortunately, while the portion sizes are good ( 3 fillets of catfish in a dinner order, big juicy thighs in the jerk chicken) the meat was over salted while everything else was under seasoned. The jerk egg rolls were tasteless and cost $4 each.

Ok so I’m a regular here the when they first opened they were amazing I’ve currently been waiting 90 minutes for my order then was told they didn’t have 2 of the sides I ordered after already waiting a hour .I support this business but there’s no reason I should be waiting almost 2 hours for a order so I personally will not be a returning costumer the food is good service is poor .

I order the bbq chicken with Mac and cheese, fried okra, and friend mushrooms and cornbread. It was very good! Very tasty! Customer service was great very friendly and inviting. While we were sitting the gentleman I believe he’s the owner came out to check to see how everything was tasting and if we needed anything! I drove all the way from Crystal lake to Zion and tried their restaurant! It was worth the drive! I will definitely come back again.
