Dad’s Seafood Restaurant in Niantic, CT, is a must-visit spot during the summer months. They offer a great selection of fried seafood and other items, complemented by alcoholic beverages and a delightful ice cream section. The outdoor deck seating and picnic tables provide a charming setting with a water view over the Amtrak train tracks. Don’t miss their famous fried clam strips, served in generous portions. A perfect place for a memorable seafood feast by the water!

This is the way fried fish and seafood should be! With so many crispy and delicious items, it’s hard to pick just one!

Fried clam strips, calamari and chicken tenders with fries. Typical summer seafood. The portions are HUGE and we brought half home. Too much batter on the fried food though

First time eating at Dad’s. CASH ONLY so be prepared. They do have an ATM onsite if you need it. Have friends that would go and loved it. Got a whole belly clam roll, grilled chicken sandwich and order of clam strips. All were excellent, lightly fried clams, nice taste with the whole bellies. The strips were huge! Actually knew you were eating clam. These weren’t little strips you could barely taste. Chicken sandwich was juicy and tasted very good. Picnic tables set up inside as well as outside.

The food was not very good at all. The cornmeal on everything was flavorless, but also just kind of weird tasting. Even the French fries weren’t right – I thought maybe it was because the ketchup went bad, because even that had a weird taste to it. Girl at the front was miserable from the start, and seating in the back had a lot of crows and seagulls.

Food was tasteless, dry and tough. Heavy on the corn meal batter. They didn’t even have the clam fritters. In the past we look forward to going to Dad’s when we visit Connecticut. We were a party of 4 and are known to finish our meal, but not last night. Won’t be returning again.

Standard seafood fare. The lobster roll sandwich seem a little small for the price, but it tasted fantastic. Service was excellent and fast. The entire resturant was very clean and open air. The view is also quit nice and you get to watch the Amtrak pass by. Recommend you at least check it out.

Great restaurant with a water view. Clam chowder is the best! Usually I get the fried shrimp but the batter is different this season and not very good. Regardless, still highly recommended, even if I just ate 3 bowls of chowder for dinner!

We come here annually for whole belly clams and clam strips and this year it must have changed hands. The food was definitely not the same as in the past! The food didn’t even come out all together, it came in waves. The cashier had an attitude, as if we were bothering her The flavor was poor and the batter was absolutely horrible. It definitely didn’t have that sweet taste, the batter was hard and crunchy, the ketchup for the fries was not even ketchup, it was something very rancid. We spent a substantial amount of money for something we had to choke down. We are never ever returning, you have ruined our annual summer dinner. We should have known something was up when there were not a lot of cars in the parking lot…

Zero flavor in anything. Incredibly bland, super dry, cornmeal breading, you pick up a shrimp, clam etc. and it just falls out of it’s breading. Even the fries and onion rings are bland. Complete waste of calories and subpar seafood. Dirty tables, gross bathrooms. Beers were cold, which is a plus. The 2 stars for atmosphere is because you can smell the sound but not really see it. And for 2 people, average order it was $74. You might as well light candles with $20 bills before you spend it here. You could use a card here so no longer cash only. And, why is the lobster in the lobster roll so red?
