I’ve visited Dale’s three times for lunch during the week and dined from the buffet. I wasn’t impressed the first two times because the food was bland and lacked the flavor of authentic Indian food, but today, they were on track. Everything was rich and full of flavor. The service is awesome and the atmosphere is nice. The price of the buffet is almost $12.00; not a bad price for a restaurant on 9th street.

I also don’t understand the bad reviews. I went in for the Sunday buffet and the selection was great, service was attentive and friendly, and the flavors were nice. Their fresh chutneys were especially impressive.

I don’t understand the negative reviews. My family has been frequenting Dale’s for both takeout and eat in since we moved to Durham 10 years ago. We’ve never had an issue with their food or their service. The food is very tasty and we keep coming back. Recently, they took great care of us with a $180 to go order and even threw in a free dessert. I always look forward to enjoying their food.

I have been eating here since 2007 and I have never, ever had a bad experience here. The service is always polite and friendly, the restaurant is always clean, and the food is always, always tasty. My favorite Indian place in the Triangle. There are other good places, yes, but when I eat at other places I always just wish I had been to Dales on 9th. Just fabulous, and thank you for so many years of tasty meals!

Dales has really turned things around. Previously, the food was just mediocre. Having tried Dales 3-4 years ago, I hadn’t returned because I wasn’t impressed.

I absolutely love Indian food I even make it at home. This food was bland you can hardly tell that it came from a restaurant. I know that sometimes when restaurants have older guest they tent to dial back the flavor, but this was just nasty. The chicken tasted like it was undercooked, and it wasn’t cheap. I rarely leave reviews but if we don’t hold businesses accountable for whatever they offer, it’s like saying I’m fine with what you are doing. I gave one star because the shell of the samosa was OK.

Let me start off by saying that the customer service was horrible! These two guys couldn’t have cared less that we were there. It took forever to get water, and even longer to get one of them to let us know that they only serve buffet at lunch. How convenient since groupon said it could be used at lunch or dinner, but not on the buffet. How is that? The food was tolerable, but I’m sorry I have had Indian that is one hundred times better. They got two stars because the price was not bad considering the area. Don’t waste your time!

The food was absolutely delicious. I got a spicy goat dish with several types of bread, rice, and a vegetarian sampler. It was all very good. At first, the owner seemed sort of rude because he spent very little time at my table. It took a while for him to come over to greet us and take our order, but then I realized he was doing everything himself. Waiting on every table, running food, seating customers, bussing tables, and maybe even cooking. He is very busy since he runs the restaurant himself, but upon talking to him he is actually a really nice guy, knowledgable about the food, and will hold a decent conversation. I would recommend to anyone, but expect a bit of a wait to place an order and be waited on, especially if busy.
