A fixture on the Beach Road in Kill Devil Hills since 1987, Dare Devil’s Pizzeria is an Outer Banks favorite for delicious pizzas, stromboli, subs, salads and appetizers. The quality of the food plus the friendly staff are just a couple of the reasons this is the longest-running pizza restaurant on the beach. If you know Dare Devil’s, you’ll notice a slight change this year as the restaurant has switched to a counter-service model instead of having servers come to your table. It’s the same delicious food, but you’ll order it at the counter and seat yourself in the dining room or at the bar. They’ll still serve beer, wine and spirits, and large parties will still be welcomed. Lunch and dinner every day during season.

Last time we were here was 7 years ago and the service has since changed. You order at the counter after reviewing the menu at the table you choose to sit at. They will give you your drink in either a bottle or can. You have to get your own paper plates, plastic ware, straw, napkins, etc. The food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious! You clean off the table when done and place any pizza pans or stands in their designated place by the trash. Honestly, it’s not bad. Things have changed for many businesses since COVID and Dare Devil’s Pizzeria did what works best for them. It wasn’t a bother at all to do what I could to help their business succeed. I hope it doesn’t take another 7 years to visit again 🙂

Homemade dough/crust was light and airy, had the perfect slight crunch on bottom, holds its form and toppings stay in. All topping were fresh and cooked through – I got a pepperoni, onion, and mushroom – it was a basic, homemade, Italian pie, thanks!

The location is convenient, being right near the beach. The service was quick and accurate. We got what we ordered very fast. The mozzarella sticks were good, and so were the wings. The pizza though…if Dave Portnoy came here he’d likely give it a 5.7. It was super chewy, barely any crisp and the cheese was like setting concrete. The other items were great, but this is a pizza place…I expected a better pizza.

Came back to Dare Devils after 2 years and still stand by below review! Great pizza and great service. They updated to self service ordering and paying at the counter. This seems to work well and keeps the dining area free of congestion.

Very friendly service. We ate in (family of 4) and the food turned up quickly despite the place being pretty busy. My beer was REALLY cold too, which was great. There seemed to be a lot of people in this evening who have been returning here year after year which was great to see. The food was good value in terms of portion sizes. I’ve definitely had better pizza (I’m more of a thin crust, or sourdough person), but there’s nothing much wrong with Dare Devil’s.

Great location right on beach road and open at 11 most days so it’s a good lunch pizza option. Not a ton of seating if it gets busy. Pizza is mediocre – standard but has good variety. Staff was friendly and good came out pretty quickly
