Dat Cajun Guy is the best shrimp truck stop on the island… in fact, I would recommend if it was anywhere in the world! You don’t get any better than the cajun BBQ Shrimp over rice anywhere!

I highly recommend Dat Cajun Guy! The staff is always friendly and chats with us while we wait for our food. The New Orleans BBQ Shrimp Po Boy is my favorite thing on the menu and the biscuits and gravy is top notch! We always leave satisfied and it’s our favorite spot to eat on the island. A must if you are on the North Shore!!

I’ve been here twice. I like the service and the food. I had to bring my husband to try the fish and chips! He enjoyed the fish and chips. We even met someone that visits regularly and he let us try his food…lol. Now, we will order like how he does… Fish and chips with sausage. Oh and we love the fried pickles. My daughter’s love the dessert… I can’t remember the name of it lol. I would recommend to eat the fish and chips and fried pickles. You won’t be disappointed. We will be going again really soon. Only thing is they close early on certain days. Husband was craving the fish and we headed there tonight after 5:30pm (Wednesday) and they were closed already lol. Check out the pics.

I had this place bookmarked (I forgot why) and my BF and I were still a little hungry after sharing a plate over at Giovanni’s, so we decided to check this place out. We didn’t want anything huge, so we had the fried pickles, and the A Cup-a, Cup-a, Cup – where you get to choose three different soups. We went with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo (Boneless Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Okra, and Seasonings simmered in a thick brown Creole soup), Gumbalaya (A bowl of Gumbo with a scoop of Jambalaya in it), and Jambalaya (Pork, Smoked Sausage, veggies). The pickles were a bit lackluster. The cup-a, cup-a, cup were pretty good but they all tasted pretty similar. I liked the fact that it wasn’t overly salty, like a lot of gumbos in general tend to be.

Day Cajun Guy is what keeps me coming back to the North Shore. Easily the best Cajun food on the island, I love their buffalo chicken/buffalo fish poboy and my wife loves their gumbalaya (gumbo/jambalaya mix)! They were awesome in the food truck and now even better that they have a permanent restaurant. There’s ample parking here and now they’re open for dinner on the weekends, too!

You should eat here! Don’t go to anywhere else, delicious food is right here. The “gumbalaya” was tasty, but the New Orleans BBQ shrimp po-boy blew my mind. Seriously the best po-boy I ever had. It was so flavorful, but the flavors also worked really well together. So so good!!!

Best food truck in Oahu on Hawaii! Drove all the way from Honolulu to eat here! Had the BBQ Shrimp and Jambalaya with the sweet tea. The staff were AMAZING and provided great recommendations. The food was perfectly cooked and authentically cajun. You MUST eat here!

On our sixth visit to Oahu, we made our twelfth visit to Dat Cajun Guy. Lo and behold, the food truck morphed into a small, immobile restaurant. Small, very clean and tastefully decorated. They have added breakfast but otherwise the menu is the same. I had the ghost pepper chicen poboy. Excellent baggett type roll. Pulled chicken and slaw. But the main ingredient is fire! I’d remembered 8 of 10 hotness. It was an 11.

This place is somewhere unique if you’re looking for something besides all the shrimp and taco trucks on the north shore. Not only is the food amazing but the staff here are so friendly and helpful. The flavor in shrimp Poboy was delicious and the bread was toasted perfectly. Cannot day enough great things about this place! We will definitely be back!

Great food and friendly guys working at the truck. They have no issues coming out and refilling your drink or bringing you your order if it’s not busy.
