This was our first visit. Considered a small “hole in the wall” establishment, but boy is this a hidden gem. Dave was so friendly and attentive. He was running the entire show when we went it, greeting, taking orders, cooking, serving and cashing us out. This made the wait a little bit longer, as there were 3 tables before us, but it was DEFINITELY worth the small wait.

Recently, my wife and I saw his ad and I spoke how much I used to enjoy his food. Still the same yummy burgers as before and he even remembered me after all this time. All I have to say is wow. If Dave ever moves into a bigger place other restaurants are going to have to up their game. I had the Bison Juicy Lucy burger with the ‘Chef’s touch.’ Honestly the best burger I’ve had that I can remember. The way he seasons the meat is extraordinary. It makes the flavor pop and you realize you’re not just eating another burger. It tastes like something deliciously unique! That is just the beginning… he is a one man show who seats you, takes your order, cooks your food, buses tables, and cashes you out. Simply put, the man is a magician. He has legendary skills. That’s all I can put into words.

We stopped by after the VanGogh exhibit. I figured that I would end up ordering a plate of chicken and rice, seeing as I’m allergic to wheat… but Dave made a fresh gluten free bun for my Juicy Lucy! We used to eat at Dave’s when he was in Albany and finally took the drive to try his new Schenectady location. Dave treats all customers like family, which is welcoming after a hard day. The food did not taste how we remembered but was still very tasty. With 3 fry options we opted for the old goodie – black fries. They are scary but delicious. A must try. We both ordered his famous Juicy Lucy. One with Chefs Touch. The restaurant itself is cozy. Only 2 tables and a nice diner bar. Well worth the drive or the stop in if in the area. An added bonus is near by charging stations. We look forward to visiting again!
