In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

The best fried chicken spot in Costa Mesa. We had chicken sandwiches and they were super delicious . They were not too greasy, not too dry, just perfectly crispy. I also love their Dave’s sauce . It is a must try! The crinkle cut fries is very tasty too and it goes perfectly with the Dave’s sauce. For the first time we have tried their mac and cheese and it was delicious. When you are ordering a chicken sandwich you get to select how spicy you want the chicken, we got it lite mild which was perfect, not to spicy but not blend either. Perfectly seasoned chicken and so juicy and delicious .

Very consistent food. I’ve had the hot sliders twice this week and got identical portions and heat level. I’m definitely a fan, it seems like they are working on keeping guest experience level high , the cashier gave me her name after I ordered and said if I needed anything, just ask.. nice touch… but I then sat at a table directly in front of the counter and when my food came up less than 5 min later, she announced my number over the intercom… I was the only person waiting for food.. just seemed contradictory to the personal touch I had just admired. I have to think the intercom is policy because surely she knew it was my order and could have told me in a normal voice and I would certainly have heard… or better yet, she could have just brought the food right to me..

When you walk into a location and it’s like early lunch at say 11:09 am on a Saturday and the place is Dead. Like literally not one customer in the whole place, and no one is coming in you would think when the Girl asks you “You’ve never been to a Dave’s before” and you say “Yes it’s my first try of Dave’s Hot Chicken”

If you like dry rub fried chicken it’s decent but for the price should be more food quantity. Fries were over seasoned and the Mac n cheese was lackluster luke warm with about 3 spoons for almost $5. For $24 this is what you get it’s definitely not the “best” chicken in town but good for a quick pinch.

First time trying Dave’s hot chicken, staff was friendly. Went with the number 4 combo one slider and fry I got it “Hot” it was spicy for me but also very manageable. The atmosphere is awesome the sand which was delicious not over the top greasy either, tasted very fresh. Would come back.
