Short version: I don’t regret trying this place, but I probably won’t return.

This place is wonderful, I stopped in right when they opened, I was the only customer there. It was nice and quiet, the woman who took my order was lovely and very welcoming.

When we walked in, we were told by a solo woman that we’d have to wait a bit, since there were 3 orders ahead of us, and she was alone. Well, this PRO got the food out in under 10 minutes, and it was hot and generously portioned. We got plantains (again, HOT), veggies and rice, jerk tofu, and jerk chicken. The tofu was not spicy, but really flavorful – and we got plenty of jerk sauce on the side which IS spicy (scotch bonnet peppers). We spent $50 and got enough food to feed our family of four for a week. We all LOVED the food. Easy to eat gluten-free and vegan. We will be back for sure.

If I could rate zero stars on everything I would. The food, atmosphere was certainly trash. The service was subpar. I had the spicy jerk chicken. It had no flavor at all. It’s like they baked or boiled the chicken with no seasoning then poured some cold store bought jerk marinade over it. The cabbage was even horrible. My lady ordered the shrimp it was also horrible with no flavor. $30+ just to end up throwing the food in the garbage. I’ve been to plenty jamaican style restaurants but never encountered anything like this.

What a delicious surprise!! We ordered the jerk pork, jerk chicken and the fried plantains. Huge portions!! More than enough to leave full and enjoy another meal at home!

My partner and I love getting takeout from David’s Jamaican—the vegan mango tofu is our favorite, with a side of spicy jerk sauce (or a full bottle to take home and keep in our fridge!). The pineapple tofu is also good, but I return for the mango tofu every time—it’s perfectly saucy and DELICIOUS. Plus, David is also so kind and friendly. The restaurant currently seems better suited for takeout rather than dining in, but we love supporting this family-owned business!

David’s Jamaican Cuisine is an excellent choice for anyone looking for something off the beaten path. The food is perfectly seasoned and comes in absolute heaps!

Absolutely amazing! I expect ribs to fall off the bone, and they did not disappoint. I did not expect my chicken to literally fall off the bone, but it did! These guys know how to cook meat properly. Unfortunate that they cannot offer dine in at this time, but it is definitely worth making a trip to check this out. We came from Janesville. Worth it!

This was my first time trying Jamaican. I ordered the jerk papaya sesame shrimp, pineapple salmon, and fried plantains. This food is delicious and the portions are huge. The only reason I’m giving three stars is because I got sick to my stomach and vomited after eating it. I’m not sure if it was because of bad food, or because my system isn’t used to the new bold spices.

I go out of my way to find black owned and operated businesses whenever I travel. So this was my first visit to Wisconsin and Madison. Ok so maybe I ordered the wrong dish. Because the food I had was not the best or even good. I hate to leave bad reviews but I wish someone would have warned me. So I have to warn others. I ordered ox tails with standard rice and peas and a side of cabbage. I’ve never had ox tails in a reddish sauce. It tasted like cheif boyardee sauce to be honest. The rise was soggy. The cabbage looked like it was cut on a vegetable slicer in a zigzag shape. Then it may have been lightly sauteed in a chicken broth of sorts. The plantains were barley ripe and not sweet. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I initially wanted to order escovitch fish. I was told that I had to call ahead due to the fish being frozen. Surprisingly this place was packed when I was leaving. I noticed that most people were ordering the jerk and curry dishes. So like I said, maybe I ordered the wrong dish. I wanted to love this place but it was a bust for me. Basically I gave them a $25 donation because I barely ate my food. I feel like when you have any type of ethnic restaurant in a predominantly white area in America, it’s your duty to bring the culture to that area. I thought the point is to offer an authentic experience. I feel like this restuarant waters down it’s food to fit the demographic in the area. It’s sad in my opinion. 2 out of 10 I would not recommend.
