Visited Dayton and stumbled across this wonderful hidden gem of a diner. Love the friendly service and warm, home-style decor. Love the military service pictures on the wall. Definitely try the blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Great place! Highly recommend!

We looked forward to real country cooking, but the vegetables were canned with no seasoning or frozen and fried, and most entrees were also frozen and fried. The fried food tasted like old grease. I got the flounder and it was one triangular piece like out of a Gordon’s box, and didn’t taste like flounder. My husband had the chicken broccoli casserole, and said the chicken was like canned chicken and the cheese was the velveta type. The green beans were like Allen’s canned and the greens were also canned or frozen and full of stems. The service was fast and there are nice inspirational wall decorations. The restroom had dried feces on the front of the toilet bowl. One thing that saved the day was the coconut pie. It was delicious. The server told us that the egg custard, coconut and chocolate pies are made “in-house.” If returning, I would just get dessert.

I did like the green beans, Mac n Cheese, and the pie. However, I just didn’t like the catfish there was too much batter and barely enough fish. it was just odd overall the staff was really friendly.

The fact that they got rid of breakfast, this place is now useless. Literally come to visit. Born and raised here, main thing I tell people about when traveling for work is about the coffee shop BREAKFAST. I have went two 3 separate places for breakfast now, (Waffle House is packed btw so the customers are out there) but yes I had to end up at a Waffle House cause DAYTON HAS NO HOMETOWN BREAKFAST ANYMORE. Very disappointed in Dayton now. It’s all fast food or chain restaurant places. Definitely going down hill. Focused more or visitors with hotels and fishing tournaments, taking away from the things that make Dayton a home and good for the people here smh.

The kind of small town place you’ll drive out of your way for. Home cooked (from scratch) specials every day, quality food at fair prices. Friendly staff that makes you feel like you’re in your own kitchen (without having to clean up afterwards, LOL)! And other diners, some like yourself who drove a ways but mostly locals from Dayton who just keep coming back again and again! And, oh, yeah, nearly everybody gets a piece of that fresh Coconut Cream Pie! This place is a keeper!

The wife and I eat here every Wednesday night. You simply can not beat the food, the prices or the staff. Christy, Maggie & Leann are the best. The Mexican cornbread with pinto beans and chicken livers is where it’s at, then top it off with the best homemade coconut pie you ever eaten! Go see them you won’t be disappointed

For those of us that are a little older. It’s your basic but delicious blue plate specials. Food was good, portions not too much but definitely not too little had a little leftover for an afternoon snack. Did not have room for dessert so hubby and I will need to go back for that.
