De Mar’s Family Restaurant is a large, casual diner located in Blue Island, Illinois. The restaurant has a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I visited De Mar’s for a quick breakfast and ordered the hash browns, grits, wheat toast, and fruit.

Mannnn LOOK!!! Put some RESPECK on DE MAR’s RESTAURANT!!! Hmmkay!!!! For about a month or so, Husbae & I like to try out different lil restaurants around the South part of the city. We went to this other lil cafe first but they didn’t have pancakes which Husbae had a craving for so we left. I put pancakes in Google Maps and De Mars came up as the closest restaurant to us that was still open. It’s crazy how many restaurants close @3 on a Saturday! But not De Mar. Bless his heart! They were open til 7 & we were starving so we headed over. Immediately cuz we were starving. Boy were we NOT disappointed! The place wasn’t flashy nor appealing to the eye so I was a lil hesitant. I’m here to say, do not judge a book by its cover cuz you will miss out! Glad I didn’t let that deter me. Plus this place got 4.3 stars. I was staying put. Cute decor is so overrated! Anywho I got the steak skillet. It had butt steak, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs (to your liking. I got scrambled med), cheddar cheese, green peppers and sweet onions. There aren’t enough words to explain the joy to my mouth and tummy at first bite! It was love at first bite y’all!! The steak was thick, tender and flavorful! I love sweet onions! They use sweet onions!! Anybody using sweet onions is good with me! So sweet onions, grn peppers, potatoes, chddr cheese and their special seasonings makes a delicious dish! Just magically delicious y’all! I was stuffed but couldn’t leave any on my plate. It was that good, LOL! Man my mouth is watering trying to type this. I need y’all to understand this joy I had cuz of this meal! But I’m not descriptive enough LBS. Y’all take my word & meet me at De Mars tomorrow, Hmmkay?!!! I’m gonna go for my morning run and then run right up there! Oh yea and they have $5 mimosas! Yes, good and strong! I was tipsy when I took a pic of it for y’all. Take a look. I think I had three good sips when I started feeling real niiiice! If you’re gonna get one and you’re driving, get a designated driver. Maybe I’m a lightweight but I couldn’t drive. But I dnt have to ever drive when Husbae is wit me anyway sooooo (Lol) Oh yea he had, I cnt remember the name but it consisted of 2 pancakes, bacon and eggs. He ordered an extra short stack cuz he’s greedy. He was wounded cuz he loved his food too. He was full before the extra short stack but he ain’t no punk either. So yea we ate everything but the plates, LBS! You get good helpings too. Now the hubby and I in the past month have never went to the same restaurant TWICE. We haven’t had a reason to but now?!! Shiiiidddd… De Mar has left a special impression on us! Just stuck. We ain’t going nowhere except that first booth looking out that restaurant! Bow your heads urr’body! Let us pray. Father God, I come to you as I humbly know how. I ask that you bless the De Mar family and their family restaurant. Bless the cook father God. Keep him/her covered God. They are doing the Lord’s work! Bless them abundantly for many years to come! This is my prayer! Thank you father God! AMEN!!! See y’all tomorrow. Dnt meet me there, beat me there!

De Mar’s in Blue Island, IL is a must-visit for anyone in the mood for classic American diner fare. The restaurant has a cozy, old-school feel that instantly transports you to a simpler time. Every time I sit down in a booth it makes me feel like i can talk about nothing, (a Seinfeld reference). The menu is full of classic diner dishes, from hearty breakfast options to juicy burgers and sandwiches to homemade soups and salads. I particularly enjoyed the Tuna melt, which was perfectly put together with just the right amount of cheese and tune on white bread. The French toast was also excellent, with a soft and fluffy texture that melted in my mouth. But if you want the traditional, just order the all American breakfast, 2 eggs sunny side up, bacon, hash browns and two slices of bread, along with a cup of coffee. Everything was delicious, outstanding. The staff at De Mar’s are friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were quick to offer suggestions on what to order and were always on hand to refill drinks or answer any questions. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. There is plenty of seating, so you won’t have to wait long to be seated, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Overall, I highly recommend De Mar’s to anyone looking for a traditional American diner experience. So if you are in the area of Blue Island this restaurant is a gem, that I plan on returning to in the future.

Food was hot, tasty, full of flavor, order correct. Our waitress was friendly, paid attention to what we wanted and answered our questions, checked kn us during the meal, paid attention to when our drinks were low & git us boxes & bags for our leftovers. The buyer was quick & got the dirty dishes out of our way, & she was friendly.

I always enjoy the food here, usually go for one of the specials, this last time was battered fish with Mac and cheese on the side. The fact that they batter it there made it fantastic (come on now, most fish and chips at a restaurant are dumped from frozen into the fryer) Not here! Great prices, friendly waitresses, and can always find something off the specials board. If you’re in the area and hungry, it’s a no brainer

Dined on a Sunday during lunch with a large group. Approximately 25 people including a few children. We showed up totally unexpected due to another restaurant not being able to accommodate a large group. My first experience st this establishment. A bit of chaos. A few orders were wrong. A few orders were not complete. The wait staff was very very friendly. I will return to patronize them with just one or two people. Food was good.

The server at the front Alex(older lady) that the name she gave me was horrible. I asked for condiments that should have came with a to go order and she told me no it doesn’t. When I know for sure they usually give it. I asked for a manager she said they wasn’t there, and she was in charge, but attitude was rude towards blacks. My total was $20.43, she gave me $20 and told me she couldn’t give me the .43 because that’s that the machine charged me, but I would’ve been an ignorant black lady to go up side her head. I walked off, but would love to speak to higher management, because she is terrible.

Very authentic diner on the south side of Chicago. I enjoyed my steak and eggs (cooked exactly at I wanted), medium with 2 over easy eggs. My daughter had pancakes. They were really good. Great texture (not doughy).
