Great small town diner! Actually ended up here on accident. We went to Jimmy’s Pizza (really close to this) and sat down and no one was taking our order they were just standing behind the counter. Turns out we had to go up and order but no one was telling us that they just stood behind the counter so that tells me they didn’t want business. We left after like 30 minutes. Anyways we were really pleased with this place. The service was good and we met really nice strangers and we had a good time. I had a burger and it was good as well. Hope to come back soon!

This place is a bit of “a hole in the wall”, but those usually have the best food! Prices are very reasonable. We had all-you-can-eat shrimp & rib dinners. Cooked to perfection. Included soup & salad bar. The chicken & dumplings tasted just like my grandpa’s soup. So good! Also, I highly recommend the peach pie.

We came into town for breakfast while traveling on the interstate. The food was better than your average breakfast spot, with freshly cut large vegetables and generous portion sizes. The pancakes were fantastic! The service was okay – just minor inconveniences – coffees weren’t topped off, no straws provided for little toddlers milk, etc. If there’s no street parking available, there’s a lot around back with a bit of a sketchy back entrance.

What a treat for downtown St Charles MN. This place has great food and our waitress was what made the great food even better. History and local atmosphere make this a go to stop for any visit. Do yourself a favor and drop in. Traditional food favorites done just right.

Generally our experience was good but I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was tasty but it was cold. It had sour cream, salsa, onions and tomatoes in it that I think must have all gone in cold. The onions were raw and normally I think they get fried first. At least the stuff should be heated up first. I was asked if I wanted it on the side which might have been better but I didn’t know it was going to be a problem. I asked to have it without meat and there was no meat in it which was good. They did have a sign up that they need a new cook and hopefully they will get a good one, but I know I wouldn’t want to do that job.

We’ve frequented Del’s for a while now since we moved into the area 6 years ago. Normally, the food is good and the service is fine. But, last time we couldn’t have been more dissatisfied. I ordered the burger of the month, which is their breakfast burger. It came with one burnt slice of bacon and the mayo that I ordered on the side took an extra 10 minutes because the waitress couldn’t stop bantering back-and-forth with the other customers. She simply can’t focus on her job, which she seems to think is having loud and obnoxious random conversations with the customers. She makes the entire experience awkward. She actually asked 2 young gentlemen who were in the area studying for the priesthood, that I assume were just there for a nice meal and a little relaxation, why they couldn’t find girlfriends and why God makes evil people. Then she started talking about Jeffrey Dahmer and how she felt sorry for him. We won’t be back. I’ve been going there since I was a kid in the 70s.

Over easy eggs were over hard. Rye toast delicious! Bathroom clean. English Muffin was really good…possibly homemade?Waitress was confusing…made me uncomfortable. Portion sizes generous. Food ok.

Del’s Cafe is a “must go” breakfast destination when we fly fish in SE Minnesota. Located on Hwy 74 when it passes through St. Charles, MN. Their breakfast skillets are among the best I’ve sampled from everywhere. My favorite is the smoked sausage skillet but any of them are fine. Nothing fancy but very good, simple food. This is the hangout for the locals and it has a comfortable, friendly, hometown atmosphere.

Service was very slow! The waitress could not multitask! I do give her credit for working as she was the only waitress for the whole place! Help is hard to find. The food was horrible. My husband ordered a medium rare burger and it was well done. Won’t stop next time we are in the area. 🙁
