This gem is hiding. I almost didn’t want to share, so that I could keep it for myself. Quality, quantity & environment, it’s all there; a classic feel, a casual comfort, and all in the heart of Newark. With a capacity of only approximately 30 (booths & fixed spinning stools, you might want to plan ahead, however, I did luck out on that one.

The food here is good. The sausage and waffles, and French toast are the best. The price is reasonable and the environment is nice with plenty of seating. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because there was a table in the back where we sat that needed to be tightened as it kept rocking from the post in the middle, causing coffee to spill out our cups. The manager was helpful with directions to get on the path train to the world trade center. All in all, I would recommend this diner if your within walking distance and looking for a good breakfast, salad or meal to fulfill your appetite.

Incredible pancakes and French toast. The eggs were also amazing and well seasoned without being too salty. I’m not from Jersey, but I will definitely return to this place when I return! Our waitress was extremely friendly and personable too.

We came here for breakfast after reading reviews for this place and others locally. The food was almost exactly what I expected; fresh, hot and delicious. The service was also very very good! Many thanks. If you’re in Newark at breakfast time, you should definitely drop in!

I would give this place a 4.5 if I could. It deserves a 5 to be in the area it is and to be so clean. The waitress was a little short with me and rushed me out when I only spent about a min more at the table to text a friend before I left. She said there was a wait for the table but every one in the restaurant was seated at that point. I have no doubt that she could use the table in the near future however she could of gave me that one extra minute because she literally just laid down the check. I didn’t complain. I just got up and paid my bill. Besides that treatment the food was good and fresh and again I was very happy that it was a clean place. The owner or manager who was at the cash register seemed like a nice clean cut guy. It’s definitely worth trying as there aren’t many decent choices in the neighborhood especially for breakfast.

My sister and I are from Upstate NY and this diner was the first thing we saw before we left so we had to try it out. We were a little skeptical at first but our experience was great. Our waitress Rebecca was so sweet and provided amazing service. Food was fresh, hot, quick and tasted amazing!! Side note – the price was fair. I’m If we’re ever down in jersey again we will definitely be stopping here.

The offerings may not be fancy, but for some delicious, big portioned breakfast, Deluxe Diner was legit! Give me some giant fluffy pancakes, eggs, a couple of sausage links, a couple of bacon strips, and you will have a happy camper the rest of the day. Add onto that a pineapple smoothie made with REAL pineapple and full food coma for that happy camper is right around the corner. Though I don’t live in Newark, if I did, I would hit Deluxe Diner up on the regular for my morning fix + fuel.
