There seems like there is a Dennys on every corner here in SoCal. And many of them make a great breakfast. This one makes a great breakfast with awesome service. Janet, our server, took great care of us. She kept the coffee cups full, she came back to check on us.

Today was not a good day for Denny’s. The waiter was nice enough, the place was clean, service was almost too fast though. I say this because both orders of hash browns came to us burnt AND raw at the same time. My mother wouldn’t even eat them they were too raw. My med rare steak came out burnt on one side and not even seared on the other. It was tough, dry and over well done. The meat would shred like beef jerky, that tough and dry even next to the bone of the steak. The pancakes took a while to come after my mother received her eggs, hash browns etc, and they were STILL burnt. The cook tried to hide a lot of it by placing stuff burnt side down or covered with cream. Even the toast had butter on one slice, none on the other. The server could see those hash browns were burnt and pale and he still served it to us. It appears the whole staff is either undertrained or just do not care anymore. If we complained, it would have been 65-70% of the food and it would have taken way too long to wait. At this point, I wasn’t sure what I would get back if I complained. My wife’s fruit cup wasn’t burnt, the moon’s over my hammy were good and the eggs on the other two plates were perfect. When I went to pay first and say something after, the manager wasn’t much better. He called up the people behind me to start paying, ignoring me and the social distancing entirely once I had my card in the reader. I stood there for a few and he finally noticed me asking (with a perplexed look)if I was “done” when he wasn’t even finished with them. It takes mere moments to make sure a customer receives great service. It also takes a lot to make sure SO much of it is unsatisfactory all at the same time. This was a lot of bad choices that appear to be just “the way” they do it here.

Food was great but the server we had was weird. She acted weird and one instance where I was like “I’ll eat my burger, give me some time”, she was “I’ll wait and I won’t even look”. Whether she was being funny or sarcastic, it made us uncomfortable and we left as soon as we finished our food. She also was being weird the whole time. Sorry but you made us uncomfortable.

Twice in a row, now, I’ve walked in and walked right back out because “the cook is on break.” Why the flip do you not have TWO cooks? One goes on break while the other cooks. Then they switch. Simple, yes? It’s not a 24 hour restaurant if you’re not ready to take and prepare orders TWENTY FOUR HOURS A DAY!

I was there for a p/u for postmates. Was very irritated that Dennys does not enforce the parking stay open for delivery driver’s & online orders. They allow the diners to park there leaving the pick up driver’s & online pick to have to park either behind the building or on the other side. I expressed my concerns to waitress & all she said was have a nice day. Why have a designated parking for pick up & online orders then???

There’s limited staff and then there’s just bad service. This place had bad service. There was only a couple tables with people and yet. . She didn’t care. I wanted desert but was never asked and never given my check. I guess they just wait for you to walk to the register here. Felt like a fast food situation versus an actual restaurant. One star for service. Two stars because the food was decent.
