The food was pretty good but I wished me and my bf had just left when we had the chance to. From then start the service was bad. It was mine and my boyfriends first time here and when we let our cook know we needed a minute he rolled his eyes and had a stank face. We brushed it off at first and then he made a even skankier face when we told him we both wanted fries as a side because apparently there 6 minutes each to make. If that’s a issue then remove them off your menu or don’t get mad when paying customers order them. Not to mention we were the only ones in line, it wasn’t a busy day at all in there and now I know why. We tried asking the cook of drinks came with the meal and he said “I don’t serve your drinks dude” with the biggest attitude. There was also a lady working and she had a better attitude. She was helpful and nice. Then cook then tried coming to our table and “apologizing” for his behavior. Apparently there was a leak with one of the plastics containers and it was our fault so he let it out on us, then he said he didn’t need to be working there because he made a lot of money and this is just for fun. Don’t come here at all! The service is awful.

My husband and I love Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, however this newer location on Via de Ventura is absolutely the best! The food and service are excellent plus the restaurant is spotless with great ambiance. But the driving reason for this review is that once again, I noticed a stand out employee delivering excellent customer service and always with a smile. I was certain he was the manager, so I asked his name – Adam H. Not a manager (yet), just an exceptional employee knowing what it takes to earn loyalty and build a business. Wonderful experience!

Upon walking only two steps into the completely empty establishment, my companion and I were immediately told by a gentlemen behind the counter that we would have to wait until a large catering order was finished in 8 minutes before our order could be taken. Not the welcome I was expecting, but he looked to be working alone, and we specifically drove here for a meal. When we said that was fine, we were again told that we would have to wait a while, this time with a more serious tone. I already felt unwelcome and now I felt like I was being talked out of ordering anything. Then the the gentlemen started throwing parts of the catering order onto the counter, so we just left without ordering. I get that he was alone, but our order could have easily been taken down so we could sit. Instead, we gave our business to one of the many other restaurants in walking distance.

Walked in to a man looking annoyed that me and my two kids came in after I drove 3 hours to come here and tells me he’s alone and it will be awhile and I said okay no problem and asked if he would mind if we sat down and tells us he doesn’t care what we do. I get you’re having a bad day because your understaffed but you don’t need to take it out on everyone else. Change your job if you’re going to be treated people like that. We just walked out.
