Sweet Potato
Came here after a rough day for some comfort food. Got their chicken and jalapeño pasta. The portion size was enormous!! I was very hungry but couldn’t finish it. I also ordered blueberry crisp à la mode for dessert and it was divine!!!

From the moment we walked in the door until we left, we had an awesome experience. Our waitress was very attentive and she was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wine list. She recommended a sweet red wine that paired well with the pasta dish. The egg rolls were delicious, the pasta was delicious and the key lime pie was good also, even though it was not the real key lime. We really enjoyed our experience of eating out on the balcony. When visiting Iowa again, we will definitely be back.

We had Jennifer P as our server. She did amazing on her recommendations to us as it was our first time there. She recommended the District Salmon and Jerk Chicken. These entrees are perfectly seasoned and were extremely delicious. We also got the deep fried mozzarella and chocolate cake. Everything from start to finish was a perfect dinner for our 5th anniversary. Thank you very much!

This was our first time here & it was absolutely fantastic! The food was incredible! I got Italian stuffed beef tenderloins with garlic mashed potatoes & a lobster bisque. My wife got chicken parmesan with spaghetti & a side salad that had a delicious creamy parmesan dressing. We both loved our food! The atmosphere is very trendy yet casual inside & they have a lot of different seating area to accommodate a crowd. We had a short 15 minute wait at 7pm on a Saturday night to get a table & it was packed inside so other people must think it’s pretty good too.

Be advised that a section of the menu is a mirage. All “gluten free modified” pasta on the menu is cooked in the same pot of boiling water that all other noodles containing wheat are also cooked in. Major cross contamination. Commercial kitchens that cook a lot of noodles normally keep a pot boiling all day for noodle dishes. I requested a fresh pot with the necessary couple inches of boiling water for my single serving of noodles. The staff were not willing to accommodate the simple request. In my opinion this was not an unreasonable request. Therefor this restaurant is not only uneducated about food allergen cross contamination but they are also very unaccommodating to guest needs.

My husband and I went here for my birthday. Happened to be the same night as prom but we only waited about 10 min for a table after calling only when we were on our way and being put on a wait list. Our server, Ellen, was right on with everything. She was super friendly and knowledgeable about the food and always right there when we needed her. The highlight though is the creativity in the food. Wow! We had the buffalo chicken egg rolls (amazing flavor and not too hot), the calamari ( completely upscale from any we have ever had) and the mussels ( top notch) then I had the hawaiian marinated ribeye ( cooked perfectly and the flavor was spot on). The garlic mashed potatoes were a little bland and gummy but my husband got the loaded augraten potatoes and that looked like the way to go. I only thought the blueberry cobbler was a little too sweet for my taste but that’s why it’s a dessert right. We can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu. Bar and grill sounds like casual bar food but that’s only about half the menu and the restaurant. The outher half is about as fine dining as you will find. Excellent for all occasions.

Our food was delicious and plating was eye appealing. Generous portion. Two of our companions had not been to District 36 even though they live Ankeny. They said they will be back. It’s a beautiful, roomy wood accented restaurant. Great staff, worth a stop!
