As a native Mississippian, I’d heard about how amazing Doe’s in Greenville was for years. For Father’s day 2023 my family decided to make the 3.5 hour one way drive to try it for ourselves. It was worth every mile! The porterhouse steak was the best steak I’ve ever eaten, and the broiled shrimp were succulent and delicious. The atmosphere drips authenticity and the story if the bootlegging founder and his hardworking family who have made this humble establishment a James Beard award winning icon should be experienced by all foodies. I’ve dined in restaurants all over the country, and I’d put Doe’s up against any of them for quality and experience. Our table was seated in the kitchen so we got an up-close view of the process. An all-around incredible experience!

Friendly folks and atmosphere, had the shrimp both ways ,steak( bone n ribeye) cooked medium, and the dozen hot tamales ,all was good: steak 2lbs a little hard to chew ! Shrimp fried was great! Broil was just okay ,tamales was excellent , 4 stars as steak was not as good as expected and price was 150.00 plus a 20 for tip and 3 hr drive to try them out ! All and all was worth the experience just wish steak would have been chewable for $70.00

I’ve had steaks from all over the north east of the US all the way to Texas. I rank this place up there with any of the places I’ve been able to consume delicious steak full stop. The staff was incredible & it literally has a family in kitchen environment & vibe of all the fun relatives you actually enjoy seeing on holidays wrapped into a home style restaurant. If you pass by or live close pls check this place out, absolutely perfect!

Best steak I have ever had I ordered mine blue rare and boy was it great cooked perfect, the tamales were great as well. Looks a little skeptical from the outside but I guarantee you will like the food. Hands down. I had gotten the porterhouse, tamales with cheese and chili and shrimp and I was very satisfied. I had to take a dozen tamales home for the wife to try since I was working in Greenville for work. I am going to try the Paducah location and see if it is even close to this restaurant.

If you were to drive by this place, you probably wouldn’t think of stopping. It looks like an old, rundown house in a bit so good part of town.

The atmosphere here is AMAZING and the food is even better. Definitely recommend Doe’s to everyone. I got the ribeye and it was perfect. We had shrimp both ways as an appetizer and I’m still dreaming of the broiled shrimp, it was all cooked perfectly.

Where to start? Doe’s is the reason we drove 5 hours to the Mississippi Delta on my birthday, and I’d make the drive again today. The salad, the boiled shrimp, the tamales were all wonderful. Our porterhouse was perfect and fed 3 of us easily. The fried shrimp, though, was the unexpected star of the show. Get the fried shrimp! Yes, it’s an older establishment and the interior is what it is, but this was one of my favorite dining experiences ever. Be sure to review the menu online before you get there. They had no menus the night that we visited, and I don’t know if they have them regularly or not. I will say, we had at least one of everything, and our bill was very reasonable. It’s not cheap, but I could pay a lot more for a 3# porterhouse. Go! Enjoy! BYOB, if that appeals to you.
