Amazing! Hands down one of the best Japanese spots in all of Texas! I used to go to the don Japanese food truck back when it was located behind the Co-op near UT Austin. The lines would always be 15+ people long. I remember the prices being way lower back then too.

at around 10pm I pulled up to a little store front, went inside to a super chill Japanese, out on the town, city lights kind of vibe. Lots of decor. For me they had lots of options on the menu and I can wait to go back and try more combinations. My manager actually recommended I come check this little gem out and met the most awesome/ outgoing/ respectful/ helpful workers ever! Small little gang running a hell of an operation, definitely need to put this on my new favorite places. gourmet waffle fries 9/10, pineapple mango popcorn chicken 9/10

This place is incredible! We were passing through and it’s my favorite spot in the city! I ordered the pineapple habanero popcorn chicken… mmm it was so hot and crispy! The workers there were very kind and helpful and gave me a free water while waiting! There was hardly a wait though!

Didn’t know I’ve been missing Don my life until this evening. Ever work late and get so hungry that you can’t decide where to eat? My husband and I found ourselves in this situation and we’re glad we gave Don Japanese Kitchen a try. Everything was so delicious and the portions were generous. And the service was fantastic! Seriously the hospitality is top-notch and it reminded me of hometown of Las Vegas. Excellent!!

Was only in town for a few hours and got Mac and cheese bites with some Mexican coke. The bites were great. Good and savory. The Sriracha sauce was good and spicy. When I’m back in town I’ll definitely stop by and sample some more of the menu.

First time tonight and honestly everything about it was really good! There was a very small problem with the Mac and chz bites but the guy that was handing out the food was very nice and fixed it. Also the cashier at the register was really nice! Got the terriayki chicken and the don fried chicken. The food & Customer service 11/10. Atmosphere was also nice. Will be back for sure 🙂

This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to in Central Texas. The service is incredible! They explain everything thoroughly. The sauces are also fantastic. The waffle fries also take things to the next level. When you’re in San Marcos, Don’s is a must.
