We stop here on our way to Tahoe , great place we did waited for a bit, it wasn’t bad we got there right before lunch we got a table ordered our food the atmosphere is fabulous and cozy, small restaurant it gives mom & pop vibes! Love it, the food arrived all together and the burger was good , I got the biscuits and gravi, and everything was delicious and the portions were pretty good.

Super friendly place that serves excellent diner food with an amazing amount of options. If you were ever to imagine the most idyllic diner w the friendliest of staff that serve the best Bloody Mary’s or Mimosa, it’s Donner Lake Kitchen. Long before arriving to Lake Tahoe, this place kept popping up in our searches for a quick bite, this place that legendary. The entire place has a “you’re family” vibe, literally we felt at home. We had the French dip sandwich, excellent, the DK something Sammy, TASTY and paired it w sides of polish sausage and sausage Pattie’s, chargrilled to PERFECTION. This is what this country is about. Friendly faces serving home made food making you feel like you’re family. I love this place!

Tough to find a positive during our experience. We waited an hour for eggs, bacon and pancakes. The meals were staggered out over about 10 minutes. Wrong orders came out. Food was cold. And burnt (the toast, the hash browns and the pancakes) oddly enough. Over priced and then after ordering we found the small note between the salt and pepper mentioning the menu reflected cash prices and credit cards would have an extra 4% on top. We’re restaurant people for 20+ years. It doesn’t take a lot for us to enjoy a meal out but this was a painful enough experience to write a review.

Local breakfast lunch place. Love the Eggs Benedict. We order a full order(2) and half order. Coffee was very good. You can get mimosa or bloody Mary’s while you wait. Long wait times during peak times.

Had a very unpleasant interaction with the Donner Lake Kitchen OWNER and one of the waitresses. Visited for breakfast, waited over an hour for two burnt/overcooked meals. The waitress agreed to take 50% off because of it. We handed her our card and then the OWNER went ahead and charged full price!! When asked why we were over charged what we previously agreed upon she yelled “gratuity” from the kitchen and completely ignored us afterwards. This is an UNAUTHORIZED charge. The waitress only came over to ask what I wanted and dropped it off 45 minutes later. Didn’t ask how things were, if we needed anything else, etc. Two groups that came in AFTER us were waited, served and left by the time we got our food. Super bummed, used to go there all the time but now won’t be returning. Paid over $50 for 4 overcooked eggs, a hot coco and a poorly made coffee, essentially. As a ex-waitress, I understand being short staffed but this was blatant disrespect from the owner. Keep in mind, we had a toddler with us this whole time and the owner even made a comment about our toddler crying loudly while waiting for service. She wouldn’t be crying if we didn’t have to wait over an HOUR for food.

Great American breakfast place with a small town feel and welcoming staff. Went here for breakfast and was impressed with the menu. There are some great combinations that take the best parts of breakfast and combine them. From healthier to traditional there’s loads on the menu for you to try. I went with biscuits and gravy, hash browns, eggs and sausage. The biscuits and gravy with friend jalapeños on top are very worth it. If I had the option to go back I’d try their chicken fried steak next time or maybe juevos rancheros.
