Old school NYC establishment. The food also is old fashioned; no hipster salads and sandwiches here. Food is okay; better locations in NYC, but a great place for a quiet and intimate meal and drinks between Bloomies and Hunter College. Outdoor seating is a plus to watch neighborhood locals go by.

The food was so bland. As soon as I walked in it smelled weird, got at odd vibe. Their peas and carrots looked like it was from a can. The burger looked like one from a diner. I ordered the filet mignon, the same place as an actual steak place like $60. I got it with mashed potatoes and broccoli. They don’t even have a sides menu which is odd. I got it and it was all bland, everything. I sent it back and just paid for my drink. My friend and I left and want two blocks away for a steak that was way better. Won’t recommend.

What a great experience. After walking by and researching the place, finally went for my birthday with family. I was pleasantly treated to quality food, efficient wait staff and an ambiance long forgotten in today’s NY. I can’t wait to go back here to explore the rest of the menu. Thanks for keeping it old school, Donohue’s!

Just tried this place for first time. Hamburgers are really good. I don’t like mine too thick so you can’t eat them. these are prepared just right and cooked as requested, medium rare. Fries are really good. Service is very friendly.

No frills, old school steakhouse. Probably the most reasonably priced steak in NYC, and is it good? Yes, it is!

Great atmosphere, really rustic and cozy. (Kind of rare for this area) I ordered the 16oz sirloin black and blue. It was nice and tender, however not the biggest fan of how spicy it was. Other than that it was really nice dining experience, and I’m definitely coming back.

I enjoyed sitting in this circa 1950’s restaurant in a booth with COVID barriers. Don’t expect Gourmet but down to earth with a Old NYC feeling which was relaxing. Sharon was my server who was terrific and caring. I needed a simple and healthy meal and the broiled scrod was fresh and cooked perfectly and seasoned lightly! The 2 sides included broccoli and a baked potatoes or you can have a salad. Everything was cooked just right and not loaded with oil, sauces, etc. I needed a simple, tasty, clean and basic meal and that’s what I got! The food is American style which was a nice change for me!
