Today was my first time in the Donut Shack. I originally came for some donuts, but the lady behind the counter informed me they no longer make them. So I figured while I was there I may as well grab something to eat. Couldn’t help but notice the atmosphere. Absolutely loved it. Definitely 1950’s vibe. Food was amazing and staff were very friendly. Prices were right too! I will be back.

I just finished a delicious meal at this quaint little place. The young lady waited on me was very polite and friendly. She whipped up my Eggs, Sausage, Bacon and homemade home fries with the skill and care of a mother feeding her child. And the 2 pancakes.. no, they called them “mancakes”.. were massive, as well as light and fluffy and oh so wonderful. Next time I’m out this way, I am definitely stopping here!!! Thank you ladies!! 🙂

Wanted a restaurant that served breakfast in the Penn Hills area. This restaurant had great breakfast and excellent service. The blueberry pancakes were amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

First time here and loved it. Food was much MUCH better than the chain breakfast restaurants (IHOP, dennys, etc) and the service was very good. Instant favorite. I highly recommend this place.

The ladies were very friendly. Had some blueberry French toast and a piece of the sausage. Wasn’t very busy when I was there.

All the Penn Hills goombahs used to hang out here back in the day, 1970s and 1980s. They’d smoke n drink coffee at the counter all day, having an occasional donut. The good ol’ days, good times, good times. Penn Hills used to be nice. Was there Sunday, it’s a sht hole now. They don’t even patch their pot holes. Rodi, frankstown, and saltsburg rds are a disaster. Started falling apart in the 1990s. Will never come back because they allowed crime to take over.

This is such a cool little diner! It’s decorated like a 50’s retro diner, it’s a little small so maybe not best for large groups. They have bar seating and a couple tables. I went there with my parents this morning, I’m from somewhere else but live here and they were visiting. The kids went back to school today so we thought we’d go out for breakfast. I had the French toast with bacon and home fries, my mom had the Big Ben, which is kind of a little bit of everything. My dad had the pancakes with sausage and home fries. Everything was amazing. My parents said the pancakes were really good, and they were HUGE. The size of the plate almost. There were only two employees, an older woman who did the (amazing) cooking, and a waitress. Both were very nice and friendly, and it looks like they have a bunch of regulars that come. I would definitely go here again, it’s not far from my house and it’s in a nice location. If you ever get the chance to try it, I recommended doing so!
