We felt like we were back in our hometown in Florida. You feel at home when you walk into Dots. All the staff were a delight. We both had the Seafood Omelette with cheese grits, but my husband had a biscuit and I had toast. We’d never been to Dots, as we were visiting from Florida and this was the perfect send-off meal from Louisiana. We’ll definitely be back when we’re in the area.

1950s style diner serving American food favorites from burgers to breakfast. Like most of the places in New Orleans, they have a virtual gaming area for gambling if you’re into that kind of thing. A sign advertised that on Wednesdays you get free fries and drink with the purchase of a burger for a great discount. I ordered the banana fosters French toast and it was delicious, but a little too much on the sweet side. Just be sure to ask for real butter and not the liquid butter they place on the table in a squirt dispenser. Also ordered the country fried steak to be served 2 banquet frozen meal style patties covered in gravy. The food could definitely use some seasoning and flavor. Service was great, yet food takes a while to prepare due to staffing issues.

My biscuit and gravy was okay but not seasoned as well as on my other visits. The beignet sticks was a scanty serving for the price charged. Was told the order had the correct number of pieces. Usually coffee refills are readily offered at the table but this time I had to go up to the counter to ask for a refill. I failed to ask if it’s staff shortage. Will give this location one more try.

We just started going to Dot’s Diner a few weeks ago on Wednesday around lunch time. It’s a nice, quiet place to eat and relax. The food, staff and pricing are awesome. We’re going to make this a weekly thing.
