Durrant’s at Van Schaick aims to be a lively casual yet upscale atmosphere that makes it perfect for dining with friends, family, clients and fellow VSICC members. Whether you’re ordering a multi-course meal or grabbing a drink and lunch at the bar, Durrant’s has something for everyone. Aiming to offer soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers for lunch, while adding creative and classic entrée options for dinner. Durrant’s will feature seasonal drink menus and weekly specials. Our Menu will be created by Donald Rogers who has over 20 years of culinary experience with the help of Thomas Durrant, a lifelong Cohoes resident who is the owner of Signal 30 BBQ. They are excited to bring their vision to Durrant’s at Van Schaick.

We had dinner last night here and it was very good. We asked to be seated outdoors to enjoy the view but there were some bees around and our waitress noticed us swat at them when we came back in, she said I saw you swat at the bees, so lets get you seated inside. I don’t recall her name, but she provided great service, made recommendations for cocktails and her attention was spot on, bringing us a flask of water with lemons to refill our glasses. Rolls were warm and salads were just right size and the staff removed our finished plates and the waitress followed quickly with our meals. We ordered the shrimp with fettucine pasta in garlic butter sauce, so delicious …. my only feedback and not a complaint, is its’ has lots of chopped garlic which might have been raw? or benefited from a little more sauté to cut the sharpness. A lovely dinner and we’ll be back soon.

My family and I took my mom for her Birthday Tuesday night we had made a reservation. Took us forever to put a food order in we sat with drinks that were now empty before food order was taken. while I understand most places are understaffed, I watched the 2 younger gentlemen bringing food out and appetizers to tables that were full of dirty dishes, including our table of 6. from soup/salads etc and here comes the main meal and no where to put it yet they still left the dirty dishes on the table and forced dinner plate on table and walked away. I was highly disappointed to say the least, Dinner was Luke warm at best and had to wait a good 10 -15 minutes for 3 of us to get waitress attention to ask for a steak knife that should have come out with our steak or been placed on table before. The Waitress trying to handle all tables, seemed it was a Birthday dinner night for many tables. The waitress was very nice, but those two runners bringing out food should be cleaning tables off also not wandering around like there’s nothing to do. Even our waitress wasn’t taking away dishes from appetizers, soup, salad etc. I honestly don’t know if I would return between the service and my Filet being barely Luke warm and having to wait to be able to cut it hasn’t sat exactly well.

Thursday evening I had a Celebration of Life for my Husband at Durrants . They did an AMAZING Job !! We had a large group (80) and everything was perfect ! Their event planner Sara was very accommodating , our head server Jeff couldn’t have been better and Julie our bartender kept the drinks flowing . The FOOD was absolutely delicious !! Everyone was raving about it !! And also a special shout out to our DJ Kenny G who kept everyone on the dance floor while spinning tunes !!! If you are planning an event you can not go wrong at Durrants !!

I had the southwestern burger, it was absolutely amazing! Cooked just the way I asked medium rare. My 3 year old had the tenders and fries. Of course I tried them and they were also amazing! Definitely made with real chicken the breading was a perfect crunch! Going back for Easter brunch with the Easter bunny!

We had dinner here during the first week of operation so that needs to be considered. That said, some wrinkles were that the bar wasn’t fully stocked so the wine and drinks were limited. Ok, fair enough. The French onion soup was very good. For entree I had chicken Alfredo, and while the Alfredo was very good, the sliced broiled chicken breast had what I can only describe as a rind around the outside making it impossible to chew, the center had to be cut out. Not sure how you get chicken breast to do that unless maybe using a panini type electric grill. Companions dish had the opposite problem. The chicken in the chicken Marsala was very good but the pasta had no Marsala flavor at all and just wasn’t good tasting. I’d also like bread to be served with the salad, it the dinner. Did not have dessert. The server was very good. We will come back in a couple of months to see if things get better. Fingers crossed.

August 18th. New review. My boy friend and I had dinner last night at Durrant’s. Absolutely exceptional dinner. I had the rib eye steak. It was like eating a huge filet mignon. Jim had the crabmeat stuffed haddock. Delicious. The dinners come with salad. I had the bacon balsamic dressing. You gotta try it. We loved our waitress with her adorable braids. We sat outside and listened to Alex Riddel. Great music!!! Great atmosphere!! Great restaurant!!

Sat on the patio. Took 15 minutes to order a drink and another 1/2 hour to get it. I went to the bar to get my other drinks. Some people in our party ordered food which took about 40 minutes or longer to get. Staffing was very confusing. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try one more time.

From start to finish everything was absolutely delicious. This is definitely a place we’ll be eating at…a lot! Everyone we encountered at The Durrants were knowledgeable and sincerely friendly. I can’t recommend it enough.
