Food was very good. Fried chicken needed a little salt but the texture was perfect. Mimosas did not taste like they had any alcohol in them at all (literally just juice), but they get some points because the flavors in the cider flight had some bite and were both crisp and refreshing. Can’t complain about the service since we were the only ones there for a bit of time. Atmosphere was very relaxed and clean.

Very cool setup and great service. The food was much better than I expected. I had strawberry shrimp tacos and I would say one of the best shrimp tacos I have had in Illinois. The menu items sound weird but everyone in my party loved what they ordered. Highly recommend.

Bloody Mary’s were very spicy. Food was absolutely delicious!! Haven’t had breakfast that good in a long time. Very pleased with our recent visit. I would recommend for weekend brunch!

I’ve been in the STL are pretty much my whole life and never made it over to Eckert’s, so I was very excited to visit in Oct during apple season. I had planned to meet a friend there on a Saturday and we made reservations for the restaurant (our main draw).

Food in the restaurant was disappointing. Picking was canceled even though they sold us field passes the day before. Food in the grocery store is mostly overpriced. Sadly, Eckerts has become so commercial that they’ve forgotten their roots.

The Country Restaurant is just one of many wonderful things Eckert’s has to offer. My grandfather and father and myself all moved to St. Louis as young adults (3 separate moves that is) and all had a love for Eckert’s that has been passed down and spread. I do not typically eat at the restaurant, but a group of friends caught their special brunch for a birthday celebration and the food was great. I am not sure if the brunch setup is year round or seasonal, but eating there for any meal/occasion is likely to be successful.

We stopped in for lunch. We ordered the chicken and dumplings w/ a side salad. The chicken and dumplings were good. The side salad had nuts and apple chunks. The salad was leaves that looked they were dandelions. Not cut just long dandelion leaves. Not our cup of tea. Only ate the apple chunks.

Would have been a FIVE star review. The only negative was the LINER between the tray and the food. I get it, the liner is appropriate for the fried Chicken, fries, burgers and the like, but it is not appropriate for mashed potatoes, green beans and the country fried steak with gravy as it became saturated and it deteriorated. I would have preferred the meal be served on a plate minus any paper liner. I hope that management understands. All else, portion size, temperature, service and flavor was fine.

Food was cold. Not the best flavor. Plus portions are ridiculously small. Not worth the price. They got rid of their famous biscuits. The place used to be good but now I’ll never eat there again. I know what good food taste like and this place doesn’t have it. Don’t let the past reviews fool ya. This place has changed. Breakfast could be good but never had it.
