Well it’s kind of a mixed story. I was going to my favorite buffet around the corner( that is closed on Monday ) And I’ve drove passed this place for years and never stopped in because it looks iffy from the outside. (See pics) The parking is oddly structured, the building itself has been remodeled several times poorly but it was clean inside. It’s fortunate for new customers that the menu (see pic) is numbered because the place is ran by a elderly family or 2 couples with poor English skills. Yeah the service was slow but the food was good and plenty. I had one of my Asian favorites, Garlic Eggplant with rice, good but not over the top. They have a standard extensive Asian menu, lots of choices, and reasonably priced but looking back the man that took my order never used a register nor gave a receipt just rattled of a price off the top of his head and I don’t think it matched the posted prices.

I’ve been coming here since 1982! I later worked at a now gone family warehouse that supplied area small businesses with staples, cigs, paper goods…the owner of Egg Roll King would come in to purchase items & though we couldn’t speak the same language, we figured out a code. I moved away 10 years ago and when I return to visit, I always make a stop & get the shrimp egg rolls. Crunchy, fresh shrimp sweetness & snap & I can count on everything tasting as I remembered ! Plus, the jasmine ice tea is ultra refreshing. To me, they are the ard working pressed for money student, the newly married family kind of place with ample servings and prices not having changed much in 40 plus years. I can spend $25 there for 4 people. Best value in town. Thanks to all of them who have started the restaurant with their kids, & then their own family members later on to be successful Chico natives! IMO, great folks make great food ! My favorite Chinese-American food!

Best general’s chicken I’ve had in a while. Will have to stop in again. Wish they were open more late. I also wish they did not use styrofoam containers for super hot food as this leeches harmful chemicals into your food

I have been going here since my family first moved to Chico. I have rarely ever been disappointed with the quality and quantity of food I get from Egg Roll King. Their pork fried rice and pork chow mein have always been a staple to their menu. I’m not a huge fan of sweet and sour or orange chicken, but my friends always enjoy it when we get it. Their potstickers and eggrolls are fantastic! Hot and sour soup and pho always hit the spot. The workers may come off as rude and standoff, but that’s because of the language barrier. They run a great business that has last for years. It may not be Panda Express, but it is family owned local business with delicious food that I will continue to support.

I am a lifelong fan of the Egg Roll King, I have been eating there for nearly 30 years. My favorite dish is “tofu and veggies with steamed rice” it’s not on the menu but the tofu is fried and delicious. The veggies with it are delicious as well. Bock choy, zucchini, diakon, broccoli and baby corn. I also love their pot stickers. My wife always orders a couple of veggie egg rolls. I absolutely love their pho soup as well. I have tried many other dishes over the years and been very happy with them too.

Convenient drive thru with fast service. They always take my order perfectly and never leave anything out of the bag. I love coming here as many of their chicken dishes have a beautiful outer crunch to things like the orange or sweet and sour chicken. The chow mein and fried rice are delicious regardless of meat preference. The pot stickers are huge, meaty, and taste wonderful. I always get a few orders of the crab and cream cheese wontons because they make them SO good. Wonton soup is very hearty and flavorful and comes in a large reusable container. The best drink I’ve had from them is their Tai iced tea, it is AMAZING, they mastered the tea mixture, I couldn’t even wait to get home before I finished it. Always my favorite place to go for good take out, an old location but always a gem.

I’ve been coming here for years. I love the taste of the food. Very good. The place is super dirty-a hole in the wall for sure. I overlook it for the taste of the food. I would like the community to know that each time I go I am overcharged. The owner tells me a price without using the register and he overcharges .50-1.00 every time. Is this happening to you too? Please be aware of this. Do the math beforehand.
