This restaurant will not disappoint. This was our regular ‘go to’ Mexican restaurant when we lived in Mason. We moved to Minnesota ten years ago and finally returned to find they still have great food and staff. Rarely have to wait to be seated and away prompt with drinks, ordering, and bringing out the food. Endless supply of chips and salsa to be had. Inside and outside dining options and great prices for the portions.

Visited here about a month ago based off a neighbors recommendation and recently visited again. We used to go to El Vaquero in Mason but may make this our go to now for Mexican food. Prices and portions are good, steak and ingredients taste fresh. Margaritas are generous as well! Staff was very friendly both times we’ve been here.

We got seated right away at a small two person table. Received chips and salsa right away. Server came got drink order cane back with drinks. I asked for sweetener for ice tea as none on table. After a few minutes server dropped off sweetener and left. We were actually ready to order. We watched as he cleared another table. He looked over a couple of times at us but failed to come back. We decided to leave. We talked to the manager as we left. He said he would comp our meal and get it right out. We decided not to eat there. Gave a 2 star only because the manager offered to help. Frustrating when servers are not attentive to their customers. And to be honest the table we sat at was too small for two people. Not sure if we will try again as there are numerous other Mexican restaurants that we like and get served promptly.

The food was good. The waiter was nice. The margaritas were strong, but before we even finished our drink, our waiter constantly came asking if we need anything else, and we felt like he was just rushing us out the door before we even finished our margaritas. Also, the rice was a little spicy, so if you’re not fond of spiciness, then I would go somewhere else

My wife and I moved to this area about 2 months ago. This is the 5th Mexican restaurant we have tried. El Caporal is the best so far. I had a three enchilada entrée that came with a salad and refried beans as sides. It was very good. The beans were especially good. My wife had a chicken and rice dish similar to arroz con pollo with peppers and onions. It was very good but a little spicy for her. The servings seemed huge. We took a lot home. It cost $40 for the two of us including tax and tip. We didn’t have any appetizers or alcohol and only one soft drink. I wish most restaurants would offer a slightly smaller entrée size for a little less money. I am still searching for my ‘go-to’ Mexican restaurant in this area.
