“It’s a Mexican FAMILY Restaurant…” Elias Benavidez, the founder of the El Caporal Restaurants, was frequently heard explaining to employees and customers. The first El Caporal was opened in 2004 with that mission to create a Mexican family restaurant, where good food and a comfortable welcome was for everyone. To walk into an El Caporal is to walk into your local Mexican restaurant, and it goes beyond just fajitas, tacos, and margaritas (Although we make delicious fajitas, tacos, and margaritas!).
We offer a wide variety of classic Mexican dishes made with the freshest ingredients. Our menu is inspired by our heritage; merging Latin flavors with American favorites.
Casual outlet featuring traditional Mexican dishes, plus a veggie menu & margaritas in bright digs. Based on 687 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $

This place had a unique menu, with lots of specials. The portions were generous. We had a big party and our waitress handled it so well.

These have got to be the worst churros I’ve ever bought in my life. I bought two servings, one looked like normal churros and the other looked like fries covered in cinnamon and sugar. They told me they ran out of the original ones for the second batch. The normal looking ones were hard as a rock, you couldn’t bite into it, let alone even break it with your hands at all. Waste of money. The ones that look like fries were soggy and oily. I honestly can’t believe I paid $11 for these. Pictured is the normal churro compared to the soggy small ones.

The food was great, and the staff was awesome. One criticism, though There was a table that was full of drunks, got really noisy. If you can get around that, it’s a good restaurant to eat at. The inside could use a little updating, though.

The Pollo Sammy was recommended by the waitress and I was not disappointed. I love the vegetables in this entree.

It’s getting close to 20 years that I’ve been eating at El Cap, and this is by far my favorite mexican restaurant. The food is magnificent, and the staff has always been extremely friendly. Especially going to a few of their locations for so many years, they treat you like family.

Venue was very clean, staff was very attentive, didn’t hesitate to get a mistake in our order cleared up. Yea was perfect taste not to sweet not to bland. Omg and the white sauce is a lil spicy but spot on for taste. Chimichanga was the best one I’ve had yet in chesterfield, I will definitely be a return customer. Queso sauce was a lil runny but still good and refried beans were delicious.
