We’re El Centenario, and we’re a Mexican restaurant here in Country Club Hills. We serve up tacos, burritos, tortas, birria, fajitas, cemitas, enchiladas, carne asada, and much more. Chose this location randomly because we wanted tacos from somewhere we hadn’t gone before. I can honestly say it was a good choice. The carne asada, pastor, and tripe tacos were all very flavorful and delicious. We weren’t really fans of the horchata, it definitely could use a touch up.

We ordered a steak burrito, beef taco and Elote. Well 27 minutes and 12 miles later my daughter heated her corn for one minute and the bottom of the foam cup burst open in the microwave. The taco was fine and the STEAK BURRITO WAS HORRIBLE. It tasted like it was spoiled and seasoned to mask the taste; and super salty. I asked the worker to cut it in half so my husband had actually taken a large bite. I taste it after his unrepeatable comment and I agreed. I call the restaurant and spoke with a young lady and shared our concern and displeasure. I told her I could bring it back but not until the next day. She apologized and assured me the sandwich would be replaced, asked what was on it and no need to bring it back. I told her to have the owner right now to taste the meat before selling it to anyone else. She apologized and again said she would share the message. Well on the way in the next day I call so the sandwich would be ready and was told to bring the sandwich in so the owner could see what went wrong. The woman I was speaking to now was not the same initial person. She was screaming in the phone saying her husband said he needed the sandwich and it would not be replaced otherwise. I wasn’t about to argue with this woman. I’m too old to be stressed. I will NEVER go there again. I wish I could have given them a dunk instead of one star. I should have just called Consumer Services and had them to meet me there with the sandwich.

The lady is very rude, noisy and talks about people in a bad way all the time. She volunteers unnecessary conversation and got into it with the business next door being prejudice. I went to purchase dessert after grabbing tacos and was asked why do I shop with them, the lady is prejudice The chips for the guacamole stay stale, their prices have gone up ridiculously I can see $1 or $2 increase, their increase is ridiculous. They give you no napkins and when you ask it’s like oh. Steak tacos are bland at times. Needs to be more pleasant if you want to stay in business and serve fresh chips.

I’ve eaten here maybe a half dozen times and the food was ok. But tonight I ordered my usual…a flautas dinner and an order of elotes. When I tell you it was so bad that after eating one flauta I bagged up the remaining and headed back to the restaurant. You see, Ive eaten chicken flautas probably a 100 times over the years. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the worst flauta dinner I’ve ever tasted. As I reentered the restaurant with my food I told the young lady that I was not asking for my money back because I support small businesses. But I needed her to know just how tasteless and unappealing the food was. The cook decided to place on top of crispy flautas WET lettuce, tomatoes and a layers of sour cream! Why would you place wet ingredients on top of crispy tortillas? Makes no sense at all! Needless to say the flautas were soggy and inedible. Also the chicken in the flautas tasted like it was marinated in water. It had no seasoning…zero flavor! I also ordered elote. I can’t even figure out what was wrong but it was not appetizing. Too much mayo I think. So I had to go back and let the owners know so they could put a face to this review. Hopefully they will make improvements. After leaving I went across the street and ordered the same meal from their competitor. It was good.
