I have always wanted to come here just so i could finally leave a review on El Charro. I’m glad we came on Sunday. We went around 1pm and it was very dead in there. There was about 5 families total. The waitress was very fast, and the food was excellent . No complaints. The reason for the 4 stars is because it felt gloomy in there. I couldn’t get passed it. The patio was a little messy too. The food was like any other Mexican restaurant but the waitress is REALLY GOOD at her job.

I used to love this place, but it’s really gone down hill. Went on a Tuesday night (taco Tuesday) it was empty, except for one table, so understandably they only had one person working, and she was doing her best, but it was just so slow. There was a small dog just freely running around inside the restaurant. I know we all love our dogs here in CO, but it clearly was allowed to roam freely around inside, and the restaurant isn’t a typical “animal” spot. The sangria was good. The tacos tasted like they were cooked a week ago. Like a lot of places, it just hasn’t been as good since the pandemic.

Clean, family setting with a dining area and a lounge/ bar area with a couple of TVs with tasteful decor and a simple, straight forward menu. Table salsa with chips was possibly the hottest restaurant salsa I’ve ever had. Not too hot or anything, but I like hot, spicy food and it was great with good flavor. Had the 3 combo fajitas, which were loaded with sizzling meats (steak, chicken and shrimp). Mexican egg rolls were tasty too. Great service and affordable prices without a pretentious atmosphere, but still classy.

The service was average but we never got to the food….. sitting at the table with my husband chatting and waiting for our when a COCKROACH crawled across the wall towards our table. We informed our server and asked for the bill for our drinks so we could leave. After leaving I did a search on the Weld County Retail Food Inspection site and found the there have been cockroaches found in the restraint since OCTOBER! Completely disgusted and grossed out! Will NEVER GO BACK!!!
